Did anyone ever do one of these - remember last year, it was a VW advert, but the basic idea was that you get up at something like 4am and go out for a couple of hours for a drive through your favourite scenery whilst there's nobody about and the sun is coming up.
I always vowed that I'd do this when I got the Coupe back but didn't quite make it last year. Thinking about this weekend now as an option!

Yes, I have been on convoy night drives. Great fun. Did one overnight via eurotunnel to Paris and back. Drove for nearly 24 hours all together and wasn't tired at all! There are some 'members only' tunnel runs if you search hard enough ;-)

I have, but it was a drive that I had to do so it doesnt count in that sense, but it was still amazing.

Night Rider. A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a vehicle, that you cannot resist. Fiat Coupe. An old car on a crusade to empty the wallets of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of motoring where you have to buy one more. (play the Knight Rider theme in the background while you read this)

I love night drives. Theres just something about them. Me and my mate used to drive up past Alton Towers round all those creepy country lanes whilst he told me ghost stories. It was actually scary lol.

Doesnt matter what car it is, its always a nice experience.

It's a brilliant idea! Marco - on the one hand, yes, it would be a great idea, but...... (you knew there would be a "but" didn't you!): 2 things. Firstly, I suspect that a line of cars travelling around at 3-4am, even if they were heeding all limits, etc, would inevitably attract the attention of the BiB, possibly even more so for a one-marque line of cars. Secondly, I somehow think that <misty-eyed old daydreamer mode> this is the sort of thing possibly best done on your own, where you can bimble along, watching the scenery change, thinking all sorts of thoughts, and stop whenever you feel like it* </misty-eyed old daydreamer mode> - you know? I have mentioned it to a few mates but now I'm thinking I'd rather do it alone? Alternatively, set a few waypoints and set off at small intervals, take your own route, and meet every hour or so? * - ok, that counded like a load of old cack but hopefully explained what I mean!!

People would just end up racing each other and that would defeat the object of it.

I love night drives, it usually means my bed is waiting for me at the other end 3am finishes are to thank for my lucky experience I know what you mean though, i'd honestly rather be on my own on the journey home, but car sharing just takes the finished comfort i like, by my self.

Didn't Kenno do this last year and parked outside Big Ben and took a couple of photo's? I've done a 3am drive when the girlfriends store alarm went off. From Guildford to Dorking we only saw 1 car and that was the BiB going the other way. What normally takes a 25 - 30 min drive to get there, took us 15 mins I remember that email. I am sure it involved buying a bagel as well.

I did it a few weekends ago in the Atom, on me tod.
I needed to get to Cadwell and was staying at a mates the night before, so I decided to drive up there early doors and then have a snooze later that day.
It was one of the best drives I've ever had. Almost surreal, at times. Nice to drive without a lid on for a change, too. Watching the sunrise, alone, makes it worthwhile.
Deffo do it on your own....
Cheers, Hedge

I am sure it involved buying a bagel as well. Well remembered SB! The bagel shop at the top of brick lane is open 24hrs and their salt beef and mustard bagels are worth the drive. Cappo, FWIW, I also think it's something that you do on your own. The feeling of being the only one on the roads is what's fun. Exploring the city, taking your time if you want, parking wherever you want. I just pootled about from 3-5am seeing the sights (and of course having a bit of a play in the tooley street tunnels). Do IT!
