I'm getting a second car and want to build up some no claims (my Coupe is on a professional driver policy and as such I can't build up any no claims nor can I ask for consideration from insurers for NCB on a company policy because of the type of policy)
The car I am getting is only worth a few hundred quid so I'm not really fussed for getting anything more than Third Party Only cover
But I want to know whether I can build up a no claims bonus on that type of cover

I just typed my details into confused and got a quote of £196 for third party fire and theft. Changed it to third party only and reduced the anual mileage and it went up to £206 (with the same insurer)
Pure madness!

They are high for a 1994, 900cc Cincequento!
I have had my driving license for 8 years and never had a claim or accident. I was hoping I'd only pay £100 a year or something
I think I'll just put the car in my dad's name and save the £200 a year.
When it comes to the time where I can no longer insure my cars this way, hopfully I'll have saved enough money not insuring my own cars that I can afford to insure a high powered car with 0 NCB regardless

When cunfused came back with the quote who was the cheapest? Try going to their site and trying again, also choosing a limited milage policy or a 10 month bonus scheme will lower the price and give you your no claims faster respectivly.

Direct Choice. I get the same quote if I go direct (I presume confused gets a cut if I go through them rather than making it's money by adding money on top of the quote and taking that as their commision)
If I put 2000 annual mileage and third party only I get a quote of £206.18. If I put 5000 miles and third party fire and theft I get a quote of £192.93! Mad
Does your occupation make any difference to an insurance quote? technically I am a company director but what I actually do could fall into a number of categories

These days fully comp can actually be cheaper than 3rd party!
Insurers believe if you pay more for your insurance, you will take more care.
Tends to be young neds with old bangers that take out 3rd party cover then hit expensive cars etc etc...

Tried Screentrade. Got a quote of £270.90 third party fire and theft with £0 voluntary excess and £808.35 with £300 voluntary excess! Mental!
People's choice best quote was £357.82
Edited to say: I'm open to other suggestions on insurance. I only used confused because it quotes a lot of insurers and it's relatively quick

Elephant comes up with £213.22 (10 month bonus accelerator, third party fire and theft...£1 cheaper for third party only!)
