I have a standard 20vt. Would a live mapping session be worthwhile and if so what are the likely outcomes?

Cheers Paul

take it to Flea, it's been known for him to get 250bhp from a standard coupe if i remember correctly plus it will be more drivable and you know it will be running correctly.
well worth the money and when mine is running right I'll be getting mine done

Thanks, should be money well spent. Even though nothing mechanically would change is this something your friendly neighbourhood insurance company would need to be made aware of?

I'm not sure to be honest!!
I doubt it as nothing will be bolted on or anything

There is a thread on standard car mapping experience by Sam.

Hani

Thanks for the steer. Seems quite clear cut, if all is well mechanically there are benefits to be had with a sympathetic live map. Thanks for your advice guys.

Yes. Ever heard of "chips" for turbocars? wink Flea gives you a good "chip" that's what he does.

That will be by increasing the boost wont it? So it's just like fitting a gtec chip but much better... smile

Your insurance company would probably want to know that it has been remapped, but they wouldnt be able to find out if you didnt tell them, unless they read the forum. tongue

My car was standard apart from a PRV, cat back exhaust, dumpvalve and K+N filter and I had it mapped with Flea.

So much nicer to drive around town, smooth power release and much more responsive. Worth it IMO.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a PRV. Do all coupes have one or has yours been uprated?

Prv stands for pressure regulating valve(i think) which sets the boosts pressure you car will boost up to.This can be adjusted manually

A standard coupe has a ebv which is set on the coupe along with its standard map.

It's also set along a Flea map. And with a bigger turbo it works a lot better (smaller boostpeaks).
