Hi,

I received yesterday new big valve head for my Coupe. It has been ported, new bigger stainless steel valves installed, intake 34 mm and exhaus 28 mm.

It was also flow tested with a amazing results:
Max flow with 10.5 mm valve lift: 158.8 cfm (10" H2O).

E/I ratio 72%.

Valve lift / flow:
1.7 mm / 41.2 cfm
3,4 mm / 72.2 cfm
5.1 mm / 101.0 cfm
6.8 mm / 127.8 cfm
8.5 mm / 146.4 cfm
10.2 mm / 155.9 cfm
10.5 mm / 158.8 cfm

Manifold needs still to be ported.

I hope, that end of the summer I will have all the things installed into my car and I can get some serious results smile .

Hi,

About the valves, I don't know. They were made in Italy. They are, should be, racing valves. There are couple other Coupes also, who have been used these valves for couple years already.

The head work was done by small company here in Finland, who is specialized for head works. Especially motor bikes, very powerfull ones.

The owner has at the moment the fastest N/A Hayabusa (normal street bike) in Finland, quarter mile 9.0xx sec with terminal speed of 156.6 mph, the bike has 272 bhp.

I'm really pleased of the quality of the work.

What are the cfm for a standard head? I'll have a look on the guy croft thread to see if its on there.

Chris

I guess the question of the valves is a question of where everyone else might be able to source them from

Hi,

Small update; engine rebuild smile .
New pistons, conrods, clutch, big valve head ...

Already driven +1000 miles and amazing. OE Bosch dump valve broke straight away frown , which has been okay with OE head / unported exhaust and intake headers.
Now Forge piston type and it is more or less like a "horse" smile (i-ha-ha-ha) when ever a little boost and I lift the gas pedal it start to make noise.

First feelings, spool up some 200 rpm earlier; 1 bar (turbo GT3071R, 0.86):
2nd 4400 rpm
3rd 3800 rpm
4th 3400 rpm

With 465cc injectors and 100% duty cycle EGT goes above 950 degC already with 1.5 bar boost/+6500 rpm. With OE head I could see black smoke coming out of the exhaust with +1.7 bar boost until almost the rev limiter (7300 rpm).

When accelerating hard (like quarter mile run), changing from second to third gear Apexi has recorded 7800 - 7950 rpm readings eventhough the limiter is in 7300 rpm. Limiter is obviousely too slow frown .

Also one notification, earlier for example with second gear, when the grip was lost the boost was coming down straight away. Now I can see 1.46 bar boost readings in Apexi with second gear with spinning wheels...

I will go to RR quite soon, as soon as the tuner get it work again, some software problem. It is the very same, where I have always got my car tested. The results are comparable against each other.

Probably Lancia Kappa 2.4 valves... They're bigger I beleive... easy enough to get whole 2.4 cylinder heads in italy.. Although not cheap.... Bloody north atlantic pasata (£) hasn't helped either...

Nice update Jari.

Did you use forged pistons and conrods for the rebuild? what clutch did you go for?

Nice on road results as well. Waiting for the RR results smile

Hi,

Yes, forged pistons (OE are too) and CrMo conrods (life time warranty up to 150 bhp/rod).

Clutch is Helix 6-paddle HD packet.

RR: me too! smile
