Very neat Truffle smile

I know exactly what you mean with the "what your supposed to be doing" you start a tiny job on these things then ends up being open heart surgery.

My £1.30 bolt the other week ended up being a £500 oil cooler and wishbone job frown

Well it was never going to be a 'small job'. I was originally going to change my black carpet over to tan (as i have tan seats).

This then became, carpet and soundproofing. Thanks to this thread, Carpet, soundproofing & rust removal, and now thanks to another thread possibly Carpet, soundproofing, rust removal and center console refurb.

The only good think about being unemployed is that it has given me the time to learn how to do things with the car.

It's taken unemployment for me to become a competent car 'enthusiast'. laugh

Why thank you sir!

From your recent forum registration you will be unaware of my previous attempts at DIY car fiddling. But we'll not worry about that laugh

I believe my recent DIY revelation has been the result of 3 things:

1: Having a garage where i can store the car, or bits of it whilst i'm doing the work.

2: Not having to drive the car everyday or every other day, meaning i can attempt more ambitious jobs without worrying about the state the car is in at the end of the day.

3: Being able to work in a private area. Previously where I used to live if i ever worked on the car it would be on the front driveway (bricked over front garden basically) and you wouldnt be out there 5 minutes without the neighbours kids or them themselves coming out to investigate and be wisecracks.

Now i'm back at my parents i have a nice big garage and driveway area to work in completely cut off from any neighbours.

May the learning experience continue...

I miss having 'facilities' like that, used to have a 3 car garage, and a drive that would hold about 8 cars, at my parents. It used to get washed more often too, for the same reasons. frown
