alfa 156 gta clutch with walkers uprated coverplate would be okay for that sort of power.

Any more and you are looking at either a helix organic or some kind of paddle clutch.

beware of anything too cheap, and i wouldn't buy anything that says techniclutch or you will be changing again, and again, and again, and... you get the idea. (they're rrrrrrrrubbish!)

do a search - this has been discussed many, many, times before!

A standard Valeo clutch will cope with 300bhp and about 270 lb-ft of torque - it will even do the occasional dragstrip start as well. Its fairly close to its limit at those levels, but I did about 30,000 miles on my standard clutch with 300bhp - when it came off (because I was significantly increasing the power) it was less than half-worn

Hi Per,

why did you opt for a GTA clutch. Im researching clutches as my car needs one and I hope to be running about 280 possibly 300bhp. I am opting for a 20vt valeo as surely its designed for as much torque as the GTA one.

GTA clutch has a larger area friction plate - it's not much of an upgrade - but as it's the same price as a standard one...

For 280-300bhp and the associated torque use a standard clutch. It does the job fine if in good condition.

Just in case, cheapest I've found for a GTA clutch is £138 from Eurocarparts.

I use Alfa GTA clutch. At my last RR I managed to get 432 Nm.
With standard clutch I got 394 Nm.

For your needs a Standard clutch would be just fine. My setup runs near 280hp has done around 80,000Kms on my new standard valeo clutch and it fine. I participate frequently in track and autocross days. smile
