I hope i'm not alone in feeling like this ! ...

I get stressy moments when leaving the Coop anywhere other than my secure gated flat car park. As much as I love driving the coop (it's only been in my possession a few weeks) I am paranoid that its going to get car park dings or keyed. compounded by the fact the previous owner put the car through a 3.5k paint job so is looking really good with no dings whatsoever.

I drove the car to Sainsburys today and was in a rush to get the car out of their car park before it got dented by some clumsy moron (even though the car was parked next to a souped up BMW). This annoyed "the wife" a lot, as I didn't want to hang around looking at Weight Watchers bloody soup! and then, on the way back to the car I start to think what if someone has dented it, how much is it going to cost to put right.

the other problem is, I tend to go places with her and not much on my own (I get the bus to work) and she makes comments and moans whenever I put my foot down a bit!

surely this isn't normal, as I may have well stuck to keeping my old N Reg Rover!

Yea but I bet the Rover didn't get the same passionate response. Better to drive a Coupe with dents than a Rover too!

I'm new to ownership too, can't seem to stop glancing at it from the Kitchen window, even parked the wife's car behind it tonight to ensure that it cannot be taken. Before this, I owned a Mk2 Lexus GS300 Sport, didn't do the parking thing with that car!!!!!

I hate spending time in the fuit and veg bit in the supermarket, she seems to take eons deciding what to get, the freezer section is annoying as it's so bloody cold, especially in the summer when you have a T-Shirt and shorts on. Then there's the biscuit section, weight watcher this, weight watcher that, then the bread bit, I always get the job of taking the freshly made bread to be sliced, and there is never a guy around to do it, this places me by the cakes, I like that bit ..... am I going on now? lol

Asking for trouble in my opinion.

Statements like that are likely to get your car dented, if one finds out about the other.

yeah it was, it's in real good nick hence the paranoia!

The only mechanical issue so far has been a nut that fell on my right foot whilst driving, was only a nut that came off the fuse box and was no problem finding the location and putting it back on but still managed to freak me out!

Keep checking the oil and everything will be fine!

Looking at your pic, it looks like you're already minimising 'dentage' possibilities - taking up 2 spaces! Nice work.

Public car parks are like Kryptonite to the Coupe.

As are mini roundabouts.

And indeed having to manoeuvre in any tight space.

Go to a 24hr supermarket in the middle of the night, much better experience. Even so, it only takes ONE car to come in and it will still park right next to you...

Yeah but it doesn't make the shopping experience go any quicker,it still takes Kim 30 minutes to decide which pasta sauce she's going to get while I've got all my weekly food requirements in the trolley in the first 5 minutes of getting into the shop . It doesn't help that on my journey through the car park there are trolleys scattered about everywhere and while she's making a life or death decision on dinner choices,I'm having nightmares about trolleys crashing into the Coop .

i have the opersite problem. my girlfriend moans when i don't put my foot down, if i am cruising she says that she hates me pottering and i should unless the power :-)
looks like i am getting a new job that pays 12k a year more and i have been threatening to buy a 911 maybe even a 911 964 turbo and she keeps telling me to stop looking at cars as i have a brilliant car and i should restore mine as she likes it more.
everytime i moan about the dents she says it looks stunning but get a respray done not buy anew car :-)

she wants her own coop now too and all her gril mates love the car :-)

i hate parking it anywhere that it might get dented but i never get moaned at :-)
still want the bloody 911 though lol

Give her the coop and buy the 911, then you can still drive it all the time anyway...

no, I've been religiously doing cleaning and polishing every week keeping it in top condition!

What I've done so far

- Removed the knackered Sigma system and stickers
- Clifford Concept 650mkII Alarm System - £420
- Clifford Smart Windows (auto windup the windows when the alarm system is activated - very cool) - £60
- Put Clifford stickers on where the Sigmas used to be
- Top of the line Kenwood Stereo (Gloss Black so fits in with the dash nicely) - £230
- USB Flash Media reader cable installed into the glove box (use it like a CD changer) with 2Gb Memory stick
- Osram Bulbs (Main and Sidelights) - better blue match for the 10k HIDs - £30

debating to do ...
- Install a class D Audio Amplifier for better quality + uprated speakers
- Get a Forge re ciculating valve fitted for better control of the boost (no chavvy woosh noises just heard it gives better response than the standard OEM)

Sounds good, dude, top stuff.

Now get the front calipers re-painted (in their proper colour) and slap the Brembo stickers back on em. While you're there, maybe get the rear calipers cleaned up.

Get the fuel cap re-furbed; think it was gettting a bit dusty, last I saw it?

De-lock the boot and remove the rear wiper? V clean lines and look, IMO!

Top of the dashboard needs - and can - to return to dark black....

Replace those rusty horns!

Get that rocker cover back to new!

i have thought about that and she has insisted if i get a new car i am not allowed to sell the coop and she wants to have it, even offered to buy it off me.

i think that the fact the 911 will not fit in the garage will kill that idea anyway :-(

yeah, will do most of those things over time! Except for delocking and taking the wiper blade off, aiming to keep the car standard as much as possible to either keep it OEM parts or uprated (like changing the valve to a Forge if I have to replace the turbo etc but thats about it).

It's certainly not going to have FMICs, aquamist et all !

I think the wife is getting used to the power now, she's driven diesels most of her life ... maybe that was the problem

well, If I decide to sell her (the car that is, not the wife!) .. you'll be the first to know, but I expect you'll have another Atom to play with!
