Hi all,

This has been asked before (I think) but I was looking for opinions.

I have a Black LE. I've always wanted a Vinci Grey one. The car needs a front end respray soon. If I had the whole car resprayed in Vinci Grey do you think it would taint the originality of the car? I mean it would still be a limited edition colour and a sought after one. Would the car be worth more/less by doing this?

Basically if you were after a Vinci Grey LE and you saw one which had been Black but was resprayed Grey would it put you off?

As long as it was documented correctly, I was buying from a enthusiast, and the car was a 'goodun', it wouldn't put me off no, i'm sure some people may be though, as they may assume re-spray means repaired damage, maybe aload of photo's before, during and after respray would help, as regards value i'm not sure if it would effected or not really.

Would cost loads as needs to be an engine out gob to look any good IMHO. I think it would just be cheaper to swap the car for a vinci one or buy a vinci one and sell the black one.

I would personally say no.

If I was after a Vinci LE I would go for a Vinci LE. An altered one would not be right to me, after all you are going for a Limited Edition car so a modified one even if it changing to another LE colour changes things for me. it was just not how the car was born.

Plus budget 3k for a job that is worth having.

Yeah I guess you guys are right. I'll stick to the Black and just get the front end respray. I'll save the money for the next replacement engine!! tongue

94,0000 miles and only one engine rebuild and two relacement engines so far laugh

Ah yes 94,000 miles blush

And no, none of it was under warranty! I didn't pay for the engine rebuild mind you. That was a previous owner. I paid for the two replacement engines though frown

Wimp. I've paid for *all* my engine rebuilds and replacements! (One of each... even the relatively unstressed 16NA doesn't go on for ever. Curse those fragile cambelts.)

Anyone who has tried to follow this NA will know EXACTLY how 'unstressed' it is! wink

I say if you want a Vinci one then go for it. I'm beginning to think the whole LE thing is a little over the top. Until the car hits real value, i mean 10k plus in years to come, then maybe its worth having the original colour but by the time that comes round you need a new respray anyway!

I'm fed up of my Black one looking filthy so quickly, showing up the lightest scratches and generally being a nightmare to keep nice. I'm tempted in time with going pearl white. I wanna keep it forever so why not have the colour you want?

If I was to sell then the margins we're talking about whether its original colour or not will be pretty small.

So go for it!

This change of mind has come about in the last few months, I was one of the 'original LE only' advocators, with the debate over joe countrycruising's thread. Maybe PM him to see what he went with!

If you got your black LE resprayed vinci grey, then it wouldn't become a vinci grey LE. It will simply be an LE in vinci grey, which was originally black. Essentially, it wouldn't be a genuine vinci grey LE.

In my experience its the interior, which some on here can't stand laugh

I dunno, perhaps its just the shitty day in work I've had but i really dont think changing the colour of the car is a big deal. It may be in 10/20 years time, but right now? Nah go for what you want.

Well the last one was about £1,100 IIRC, that's £500 for the lump, £150 for full cambelt kit and £400 labour.

Ah but if I'd told nobody about the colour change and the logbook was changed to read Car Colour: Grey, you'd never know the difference! tongue

Actually, yeah you're right. The main thing is, your Coupe is an LE.

At the end of the day, it is your car and you can do what ever you want to it. I personally could not care less what the next potential owner would think. (although I wouldn't be saying this if the question had been, should I put a huge spoiler on my car) laugh
Its what you as the existing owner get out of it as its your car and should reflect you and be how you want it to be. driving

However it would make a lot of sense to change it for one already in the colour as said, a full colour change respray is a big expensive job.

personally I prefer black coat

Leave it black. Black LE's are very rare.

Okay, I'll leave it Black. At the end of the day I'd probably keel over at the cost of having a full engine-out respray done!

Actually, I'll probably keel over at the thought of a front end respray. I have to get the bonnet stripped back to metal beforehand frown

Has anyone seen Seen Chris evans Ferrari collection. Basically they are all classics such as f40 etc and he has sprayed them all white. I guess it is upto the owner really. Mine needs a respray because all the kids and other car owners seem to enjoy putting big dings down the side of my car. Hmm might spray it red always wanted a red le. lol
