£880, for that money you can't gp wrong. Paint work looks good but expect a few issues. Hope you have a few quid to get a service as I don't ecpect the previous owner would have bothered.

chipped = i hope all the pistons are ok. Remove the chip ASAP IMO. 'superchip', it will be one of a few chips, check which ideally. Bit worried 'i dunno what else has been done', hope this is just a cheap punt for you. Could be bargain, could be a waste of money. Hell if it lasts 6 months it will be fun.

just made the phone to the ownwer of this , there is no service history and only the blue key, and it has noisey tappets but the car is in a garage getting them sorted , so what shall i do

so, no history, no documented cam belt change, turbo change, clutch change. No red key, and its running poorly, well, thats about right for a £800 quid coupe

Its £800 for a reason, and that being its going to require about 1.5k to make good. The 20vt has hydraulic tappets, they can be noisy occasionally but I would suspect its been run with out oil, or something else is making the noise

To be fair, the bloke advertises it as running sweet, Its clearly not, and if it was me, I would turn the other direction and run...unless you want to spend that money........

it was indeed Theresa, its shocking just how far the prices have fallen, you have spent the money...and its shows on your car...how many times have you broken down this year, none isn't it

The car has only let me down a couple of times over 3 years and they weren't serious. One was the bottom turbo pipe coming off and the other was a puncture

I recognise this car my mate owned it 2 years ago and did the body work on it. I can tell you it had a clutch when he owned it and he fitted a gtec 1 chip to it. not sure what's been done done since or what it will be like, but it was a good car and was a quick one.
I do know the drivers outer engine mount was shot and abit squeaky when he sold it.

20vt doesn't suffer from noisy tappets unless they are empty (for example if the head has been rebuilt)

What was it that Quentin Willson said about dodgy people and dogy cars - take a look at some of the other photos and see the other bits of tat lying around in the background

There's a good chance that some fresh oil will save it, but there's also a good chance that the bottom will fall out of the engine in less than a month.

However, it would probably break for parts and you'd get your money back, apart from the bonnet, which is now worth 3p

Coupes sound tappety if they have not been driven for awhile, theres nothing for the garage todo except drive it 50 miles.

Although i would clarify wether they know the difference between a cracked manifold and tappets, funnier things have been known.
