my stereo crackles all ther time when playing CDS o listening to the radio, its sounds like when you go out of signal on the radio but it cant be!!

dodgy connection somewhere? earth?

Mine did this, I traced all the wires back and turned out to be the wiring to rear speaker It just suddenly happened so must have gone over a bump or something.

My only tip take everything apart and start looking for the problem

I dont know the Clarion unit if that's what you've got, but can you change the sound to left and right speakers, and front and rear? If so, you can try each speaker on its own and find which one is crackling, to give you a head start.. If all of them crackle independently, then there's probably a problem round the back of the head unit.
