So... I'm back!

After a brief stint of rear wheel drive and track day fun, I craved another Coop- so many things I took for granted until I got an Mx5 and missed the small things!- the solid door thud, decent windscreen wipers, the presence on the roads (everyone cut in front of the mx5) and then there is the performance and comfort which is so much more suitable for the amount of motorway driving that I do.

I knew I was going to come back I would want a more powerful Coupe with better seats and more goodies (I took my last Coop the Ring and vowed to have some better side support next time)

My old Fiat Coupe on the way to the Ring.

Aha, so you are the guy who bought this coupe, congratulations... I was seriously tempted by it but at the time i was a little short of the money he was asking on pistonheads... Looks a really nice example, although it would look better in red imo... Lovely and clean though, how does it run ???

P.S Some great photographs btw, did you take them all yourself ???

Thanks guys. The seats are Cobra Daytonas's retrimmed with perforated leather- their fantastic, the last owner fitted them using demon tweeks subframes for a tipo I believe, but had to weld on one extra mount as only 3 out of 4 holes lined up!

The brakes are GTA Brembo's 330mm yeah Gav- I recommend them over the 20vt Brembo's if anyone is thinking about changing their brakes in the future.

Haha yes I did love my yellow one, its hard to say which colour I prefer though, the blue is growing on me.

Wheels are ETA BETA EB51's- chosen because of inner rim clearance to clear the caliper's- at first I didn't like them but they have grown one me.

Thanks for all your kind comments, its good to be back on here, its a fantastic forum.

Hmmm, Mk1 widget, too!

And that key puzzles me; I didn't think any of the coupe standard keys were that style. Is it an aftermarket alarm/control key?

Yes that right the key fob is taken from an Audi, with the fiats immobilizer fitted inside- All the buttons work perfectly and even the boot release has been wired up using a relay. smile
It removed the need to have an alarm key fob and a key.

The Widget!- can't believe how useful it is, really a choice mod for any Coupe owner. Although mine has bizarrely just flashed to 16vt on its start up and isn't reading any diagnostics? I just bought a serial to USB and I'll use the laptop to flash it, does that sound right?

There should be a jumper on the back for the 20v setting as well as necessary to have it set in software for the 20v. IIRC if its in 16V mode you need a 16v to switch it back.
So to work in 16v mode you have no jumper and set to 16v.

Looks good hope your enjoying her Sam - Bet she's flying now as the weather gets colder. That's one thing I miss about turbo cars is the extra perfomance you get as the weather gets colder smile

The widget, it did that to me once. You should just be able to hyperterm to it, and then choose 20VT from the menu...no jumpers for this on that version of the widget that I know of...

<blush> There was a bug in the configuration of the earliest widgets where every now and the it would forget its version. I thought most had been fixed by now.

It's easy to change back to 20vt; if it's already on a 20vt you should have the required jumper on the back. You'll just need to connect the laptop with something like hyperterminal (windows) or minicom (linux) and set up the port to 2400, no parity, one stop bit, *no* flow control.

Hit return a couple of times and you'll get a menu.

Spoke to previous owner, Paddy, about those fobs before.

I'm gutted I missed out on the calendar opportunity! Would have been an honour.
Finally sorted the Widget and changed the 4 readouts to my own choices.

Thanks for the help on that guys.Much appreciated.
