I picked my sprinty 20vt up on Saturday and as the car was previously used as a motorway monster, the tyres fitted at the mo are made by Infinity. Are these any good?
They look almost brand new, but I dare say the fronts wont last too long, but should I consider changing them in the spring?

Are the Goodyear F1s or the Pirelli Pzero's worth the premium over such brands as Toyos?

my personal experience with them is there a very very hard wearing tyre. They quiet and produce little road noise. They are however let down by there performance handling wise in both wet and dry conditions. They break traction in the wet with worrying ease.

If you live on country roads or do anything other than motorway miles, I would look to avoid/change

this is personal experience however and as I cant recall the exact type of infinity tyre, it should probably be taken with a pinch of salt

Thanks for the heads up, I have experienced that for myself at much slower spweeds than when I am out in the X19! I live on on the outskirts of Sheffield with great access to some fantastic derbyshire windy roads so I think I will get Christmas out of the way and invest in some decent rubber!

every one has there own favorite brand, generally I stick well clear of budgets and go middle range. My favorite tyre for the coupe is the maxis maz1. I have had these on my 16vt and currently on my fiat bravo 155, scored the top of the test in wet conditions

Im not sure what I have on the bee at the moment, I havent managed to break traction with them yet and with the limited miles I have done, they look to be equal to the maxis in wet conditions

there is a strong following for Toyo proxies on here, I have never had them so cant pass comment, They looked to hold up well on the last sprint/track day I went to on other peoples coupes

Not heard of Maxis are they made by a mainsteam manufacturer? Worth looking into though from your review.
I have always had Pirellis and rate them but thats probably because I am used to their pros and cons. The P zeros are waaaay more than the 700z's and 3000's I am running at the moment.
Driven a car with P zeros though and they were awesome but that maybe down to the Fezza that they were attached to?
Are Toyos a sub division of Yokohama? I seem to recall reading this some years ago and the Yokos on an old Lotus Talbot I had were more than capable!

Falken FK452s are what I've got. Excellent all round tyre and not too expensive

thirded by me too....the autumn/winter holds no fears for me as i know my tyres are up to the job - mine were £75 a corner fitted, but what price safety?

I have used the Toyo Proxies before and was impressed,but one of my favourites has to be the Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I once heard on the forum a while back, that the infinity tyres are so bad on a coop that they are dangerous!

Goodyear Eagle F1's for me better than Toyo Proxy's in the wet/damp.

Falken 452s, find them good in wet and dry. trust them which is the main thing! other options I have read good reports about on this forum are the Toyo Proxis TR1/TS1 and the Goodyear eagle F1's . try www.eiretyres.com for a huge selection and decent prices, and reviews aswell

Yes I've heard (and seen!) some good performances from Falkens and will be my next set of boots when needed. I have Dunlops at the moment but not totally enamoured with them TBH.....

I've got the Falkens on mine and they're pretty good - light years ahead of the Federals that were on it before.

Completely disagree. In standard spec, this is a brisk car and should have premium tyres. Those four rubber hoops are your contact with terra firma and are the most important part of managing the handling of the car safely. Remember that the OEM tyres were P-Zero's, and I personally wouldn't consider anything of lower grade. In Britain, with our predominantly cold, damp climate, I would recommend Goodyear GSD3 or Excellence as a minimum standard.

I totally agree with you, and I would never scrimp on tyres. The Falkens seem to get good reviews, and I guess once you get into the well known brands, the charactoristics of each make become a personal preference.

florette, I think its possible that we disagree on whats low end, whats mid end and whats high end. P-Zedos are mid range to me,

I'm very well aware of just how quick the coupe is, im also aware of what a good tyre performs like as well as a bad one. tyre choice should also reflect the conditions you plan to drive in.... I prefer wet performance over blistering dry handling....what you choose is up to you!

I run Toyos on my 20vt, had them on now for two weeks and very pleased in the dry and wet. event tyres were best price and home/work fit free.

Uniroyal rainsport2s on last coop,fine and dandy all round tyre!Exactly what it said on the tin!£70 fitted!thats on 17inch rims too!
