Well after much searching and many being sold before I got chance to ring, I have finally got one! Trying to find a Sprint Blue one is a nightmare eh? Got a few things to do to it which I will no doubt be asking your advise on over the next few days. I know see what all the fuss is about! Got to sell the X19 now to make room in the garage!

Thanks I've got the odd photo on here dotted around the place or bits of it anyway, depends what I'm posting on a thread about Also, my signature. Other than that, I don't think I've ever bothered posting up photos of my car. They all look the same these Sprintys anyway, just dents in different places

Thanks for the welcome guys. Oil has been checked, although it will be going for a service shortly just for my own peace of mind. Initial plans are to sort the wheels out, they are a mess! I am going to do a DIY job initially and try spraying them a dark metallic silver to see if I like the colour before sending them for a proper refurb. It has also got a couple of minor scuffs on the bumppers that need sorting. Probably get the sills and lower bumpers colour coded too. The interior is mint, just need to get a replacement rear ashtray. Once all that is done.... hmmmmmmm....

Well done x19 pilot How does it compare with the X19? Difficult to compare the 2 really, the exxy is great fun and I toured Europe in it a few years ago with no reliablility problems (except a coil failure - had a spare in the boot, 10 mins to change it). The rust is not too big an issue on mine, with it being gloss black, I sorted the odd buuble with kurust, filler and a rattle can and its been fine since,, although it did need a bit of welding on the floorpan for its last MOT. Great in the summer with the lid off, and it has just enough power to have some rear wheel fun. The handling is great for what is essentialy an early 70's design. IMHO they do not deserve the reputation of unreliable rust buckets. Mine has done over 110k and its no worse than any other car built in 1988. Straight line speed is comparible to a modern Mini Cooper, maybe not so much off the mark but certainly on the motorway. Steve at Alternative Autos (Who used to have a Sprinty coop a while back) can provide most parts for them, and I understand he supplies parts for coops now too - A one stop shop for me now! The coop is much more refined and more practical but they are different ages and genres of cars. Love em both for different reasons.

Where did you buy it from was it a garage in Bradford? It was indeed, well Shipley, just down the road. The history file is very comprehensive, although the paintwork was very flat and the alloys were shocking! That didn't bother me though as I like to spend time getting my cars looking presentable, the main issue for me was obviously the mechanicals, it had been used as a motorway car for the last 2 years, clocking up 40k in that time, but maintained at either a dealership of Alfa/Fiat specialist throughout its life. Hope you are enjoying yours? I bet you wish you took that sick day and picked it up earlier though?
