I'd be happy to try to help you get a TOTB qualifying time, but in all honesty, I don't think the car will do it with only 300bhp. It MIGHT just get close, but you'll have to strip it bare - it will take a week to put it back together again (I know this though bitter experience - TOTB always costs me a couple of day's holiday to get the car rebuilt)
I've never seen a 300bhp car break the 13s - the closest were:
My 13.3 with 305bhp
Dan's 13.05 with about 330bhp
I think you're going to need 350bhp to stand a chance of getting below 13.0 and even then, the power doesn't guarantee it. Previous years have seen several people that *should* have been able to qualify fail after several attempts
I'm not convinced I could teach you much - its all about 'feel' for what's happening under the bonnet and under the tyres.
We're not trying to put you off - we really need more people to get interested in TOTB - Flea and I can't be expected to do it forever! However, there's no point in starting with unrealistic expectations, otherwise you'll get very disappointed very quickly.
So - if you're serious, I think you need to increase your power target, AND you need to invest in some decent rubber, AND you're going to have to strip the car bare. To get to the required power, you're going to be right on the verge of going forged, but you *might* just get away with it.
Right - one final attempt to put you off - if you're still keen, then go for it.
I reckon to get a car that's capable of qualifying for TOTB, you're looking at three grand ....
Turbo - £1000
Injectors, FPR and remap session - £600
pair of race seats - £300
Set of trackday tyres - £500
Trip to Santa Pod to qualify - £50
Entry to TOTB - £100
And that's before you find other stuff that you might need - air filter, boost control, intercooler, bigger exhaust, brakes (don't skimp on brakes - the top speed run can get quite scary
)
If you're willing to spend that kind of money for a few minutes of tracktime, then you'll get plenty of help from those that have done it before - just don't go into it expecting great results from under-investment.
