Depends what you're after. Personally I favour a sub as it helps break the sound up into separate components and minimise distortion. Where do plan on fitting the 6*9's? Don't think they would fit in any of the speaker apertures without lots of work and custom door cards.

As for the 13cm components I personally wouldn't bother and get some with integral voice coils as the tweeters in the dash are pretty good and will need some serious money to get them any better. But it all depends on what kind of sound system you want smile

The Coops are reasonably sound deadened. For the price of the speakers you want to fit I don't think you'd notice any difference. We did my brothers Bravo, approx 5K worth of components, and the difference was only marginal.

im not after "epic" just good, better than OEM although I think i could probably hand craft something out of wood that would be better!

the sub situation....what I don't want is for it to rattle and sound chavy from the outside.....like them corsers vibrating to bits thumb

I've got a sub in mine and it doesn't rattle at all, you just need to alter the gain on the head unit to get a good sound. Is your stereo standard?

Nice stereo thumb, I think with some good 6.25" (15cm ish) speakers installed and a sub in the boot you should be on to a winner. I've got a 12" 250 watt rms sub and it's about right for my taste. But it does take up a lot of my boot. I only asked because if you changed the speakers only and kept a standard head unit then chances are it would sound worse than standard.

Just spotted in the link in your first post that the components are too small in diameter. The fronts are 6.25" and the rear speakers, I'm 99% sure, are the same diameter.

The 6x9's will fit easily in the rear quarter panels. Bin the OEM rears and drill some holes into the frame. Support them with wood and sound deaden the rear quarter while you're at it. I found builders flashing tape was more than adequate for the sound deadening.

As said the components are too small, the fronts are 17cm / 6.25".

Fit the 6 x 9's if you want boot space, or find that discrete sub install on the rear near side. It's a clever fibre glass backed box to fill the gap, I think it's linked to a Swedish website.

Also Sam if you've still got the standard headunit, get this changed immediately. Before you do any speakers, bin the OEM Clarion. It really is amazing the difference a new headunit can make. Just ask Bockers wink

Oh and that CD Player is £159.99 at Halfords smile

I would love to see the 6x9's fitted. Does anyone have a picture of them? How do you get around the problem of the rear cards not fitting?

Cheers for the info, might give this a try if a set of 6x9's come up at the right price smile. My only wonder is will the door card muffle the sound?

Maybe to a degree, but I haven't noticed it to be honest. I fitted Focal CA1's and they are a massive improvement to what was there before!
