Hello guys, i have a simple question.
This summer I decided to get a RSRturbo from Barbz and a Fleamap aswell.
As I have a high turbo boost going to 1.7 bar and can't get rid of it ( looked into all possibilities) we decided to control it manually
which is does nicely.
However to control it electronically is even much better so I opted for the Gizzmo MS-IBC.
I know for a fact that there are coupe owners that have also opted for the Gizzmo.
Allthough I do very well understand that each coupe is different and reacts differently I still would like to find out from you what kind of boostsettings per each gear you have given your car sothat I can have some ideas on figures from your experience provided you guys have the same set up as I have and mods like FMIC + SIP +Apexifilter-Walbro 255 +3.8 FPR etc.
I could then put these figures in the Gizzmo and roadtest them and possibly alter them to suit my car.
The idea is then to finetune them on the rollers and sending the graphs to Flea for a remap.

Can you help me out.
Your feedback is much appreciated
regards
Arthur

Hi Arthur, i have the ms-ibc with the gt28rsr and a flea map.
I have 4 different settings (don't use all 6 yet) depending on how i am driving. What me and Leighton did notice on the rollers it made more power with open loop then closed loop.
My settings for 1.25 bar is - set 50, gain 30
1.4 bar set 57, gain 30
1.47 bar set 62, gain 28
1 bar ( boring mode smile ) is set- 40 gain 40

I can't run my 1.47 bar much frown as get slight clutch slip in 4th and 5th and no traction in 2nd.

Hope these help abit for you, i know the gizzmo is abit tricky at first until you get used to it, but its a great bit of kit.

Ash

`Hi there Ashley,
Thanks very much for the input. This will greatly help us. Sorry for my ignorance but you did not mention what your settings are in what gears? I am guessing now as follows:

E.g. first gear is 1.0 bar? set at 40 and gain of 40?
second gear is 1.1 bar? set and gain?
third gear is 1.2 bar? set and gain?
fourth gear is 1.25 bar set 50 and gain30 ?
fifth gear is 1.4 bar set at 57 and gain 30?
sixth gear is 1.47 bar set at 62 and gain 28
And all done in open loop!
Actually what is your reason for only using 4 settings?
The other two depending on your foot and risk overboost? Haha! What gears are you not using then?
Could you explain a bit further Ashley as this info would be extremely helpfull to me.

Thanks so much. Have a nice weekend!
Cheers,
Arthur

The Gizmo is not gear dependant Arthur, they are seperate channels for different boost profiles.

Hi Arthur, i only have a 5 speed and don't change the settings as i accelerate (as would be needed as it doesn't change settings itself depending on gear like the apexi).
I just use different settings depending on my mood, road conditions and at the moment my clutch.
All my settings are closed loop apart from 1.47 which is open loop (for maximum power).

The good thing with the gizzmo is you don't get overboost (unless you get clutch slip), If its overboosting then your gain is set too high.

Flea and Ash,
thanks for your input.
I always understood that this was a gear dependant boost controller! My mistake but maybe you can explain to me how it works then?
It's just like a manual controller then but instead of only one boost level you can set it at 6 boostlevels depending on roadconditions?
I guess then that my highest boostlevel will be no more than 1.5 bar and with closed loop as otherwise it will go up to 1.7 bar or more due to boostcreep, right?
