In cold winter days my coupe door locks freeze, and I cannot open it with alarm remote or by key.
As I don’t want to push hard and rip something I start pouring hot water to the door handle. The hot water goes down the door and heat up the locks. I always do that on both doors when remote cannot open them.

Probably many of you already know that, but I just needed to past this…

Door locks all good this morning, my issue was when i went to put petrol in this morning!!

Note to self, fill up in the evenings these days!

Or pour hot water on it...

I'm looking forward to having no handbrake-cable-freeze this year, because I got new ones fitted in July!

No more will I need to bring out the fan heater in the morning and place it under the car!

I am having the handbrake nightmare every year, but I have a cure for that... I don't use handbrake at all...

I have new cables as does the bravo, im still not going to risk it though!

Powdered graphite helps with door locks.

The doors freeze shut due to water ingress and then the water susequently freezing. I've found a good old squirt of WD40 periodically around and in the latch, lock and handle pivots prevents this. It's also advisable to clean the doors seals and contact points and then lubricate them with a silicone grease. The silicon grease would also help prevent the handbrake cables freezing on.

I brought some 3in1 oil with PTFE, used it on the locks and brushed it on to all the rubber seals (Petrol cap, doors and boot).
Worked so far, I also have new handbrake cables but still leave it off...

That's just awful, you even left the keys in and still they didn't nick it.

All the joyriders round my way are such badge snobs

I use a hot water bottle, fill with very hot water press against the lock for 30 secs and it should open.

I then chuck the hot ware bottle on the dash and leave for 5 minutes and it clears the screen!

Not only did I need hot water to open my door locks, but I needed it to open the gate where I park my car. The little latch mechanism AND the padlock were frozen.....

Hey everyone if any of you are still having problems like myself get yourself to Halfrauds! REALLY for once do, was taking a trip there this afternoon and my locks were frozen/no central locking again which was sorted by the warm water trick so that was ok,went to Halfrauds to stock up on de-icer and silicon grease basically anything i could get my mitts on to stop the beloved coop been a giant ice cube in the morning! came out of the shop having literally been 5 mins and yes my locks were frozen again...after 5 mins!!! Well i didnt have a kettle and hot water in the middle of the car park in the bitter snow did i,so like a right idiot after standing there in the snow thinking what i could possibly do I had to go back into Halfrauds and ask for help (i was on my own,the boyfriend was happily playing on the PS3 in the warm at home) Went back in and asked the woman if at all i could have some water lol and said it was for frozen lock and she says 'Ahhhhh ive got something better than that, dissapears under the counter and pops up with a little aerosol and says come on which car is it, so she comes out with me sticks the aerosol into the lock and sprays and like magic it unfroze the lock!! I was like where did you get that from and she said here! So off i went back into the shop again and said right i want at least 2 cans, luckily they were on 3 for 2 offer,even better. Anyways not seen anyone else on here mention them so thought id share my miracle find get yourselves to Halfrauds quick as they are selling fast, and ask for them as in this shop they were all hidden under counter not on shop anwhere as i literally looked for something like that on every shelf!! And theyre only about £1.50 or something,i didnt even notice i was that quick to just buy the damn things! Merry Christmas everyone

Lol sorry forgot the name, little blue aerosol simply called 'Lock de-icer'

all you need is WD40, spray a load of it into the lock and another load into the gap that opens when you open the handle. Job done

cona... I tried this in years gone by, you must still use the handbrake occasionally, as it will seize in the off position like mine did and it was very costly to replace.

I had a variation on the deep freeze issues, a triple!
Firstly the lock, then the door seal and finally the door lock mechanism froze in the locked position with the door open ie can't shut door!
I drove the car a few yards to let the sun get at the door, without thinking just pulled catch to open the already open door and mechanism freed itself.

I'll go you one better - my locks froze OPEN this morning! I drove down the road and the doors swung open and wouldn't SHUT!!

I had that a few years ago with a company car.

Drove it 25 miles to work with a rope tied between the door armrests to keep the drivers door closed.

this is great just looking through all these comments and the past couple of days all these things have happened to me,locks fuel cap door not closing! i have never known this with any other car but my coupe... but i love it haha

i have also had all these problems doors froze this morning, petrol cap froze after waiting 20mins to get fuel and then a new one for me tonight, the doors froze whilst i was in the car, took ages to get out, not impressed
