Suspension again... #954357

I'm preparing all the bits to swap my coop suspension earlier next year.

I have a set of Osravs waiting, but since I don't use the car much, I'm putting aside all the bits I want to upgrade.

I've bought the front/rear Eibach ARB, and Eibach camber bolts as well, and I'm looking to replace front top mounts and rear bushes... And that's why I'm starting this topic!

I know that a member was selling some solid rear bushes on a GB some months ago. I was talking to Fiat here to ask them for rear bushes and they asked me if the bushes I was asking are the ones on the rear suspension arm (which costs something like 160 Euros!!!) but, well... I couldn't tell them!

I asked something related to this a while ago and Jimbo posted some help, but if you members don't mind, I'll appreciate some further clarification here just to understand what bushes are we talking about.

I remember reading that when they're new they help reduce oversteer, and since I'm getting all suspension done, I'm looking to sort all details out.

Another question is: What front top mounts to buy for the McPherson Osravs.

Thanks to you all in advance.

No - its not the rear suspension arm bushes - its the rear subframe mounting bushes (which can't be bought seperately from Fiat)

Also, standard top mounts are fine for the Osravs

Thanks Nigel.

So the only option are the ones from the Group Buy?

Or have your own manufactured...

I've been told that the solid aluminium bushes transmit a lot of road noise into the car, which is unacceptable for me, due to the mileage I do

However, I would be very interested in trying some slightly stiffer polyeurethane bushes

I'm sure Joe (countrycruising) is working on refurbished subframes that will come complete with trailing arm bushes and new mounting bushes - correct me if I'm wrong Joe.

I can't see why a polyurethane and alloy bush can't be manufactured to replace the solid alloy bush giving at least a little more noise isolation and more forgiving rear end.

I'm running these and TBH I don't notice anything unusual about the amount of road noise, I find them fine. I had them fitted while most of the rest of the suspension was getting done though, so I might not notice a difference that they make on their own.

Fitted these to mine just before I sold it... The extra noise (if any) was hardly noticable.. Worth while suspension upgrade though.

Cheers Tim

Honestly, and as Nigel, I'm also more tempted to a softer approach than solid bushes, but for what I can read, there isn't such option?!

When Fiat quoted me the rear bushes, were they quoting for trailing arm bushes only? If so, they are quite pricey... At 160€ + VAT !!!!

I've not taken it to bits yet Rich so I'm not so sure where the difficulty lies, there has to be a way of doing it though even if it's poly sandwiched between alloy ?

Thanks Jimbo. I've been surfing their website but it seems that the prices page doesn't load. Because of that, I've also tried to email them but it doesn't deliver the email saying that the requested URL was not found! frown

The website isn't kept up to date. Best to give them a phone. steve@alternativeautos.demon.co.uk should work for the email.
