Been phoning round to get insurance for a standard 20vt which has been owned for 2 years.

Currently with Greenlight and the renewel from them was £698.

I'm 26, 3 years no claims, no points / accidents, car garaged, used purely socially, have another car, IAM member and expect to do about 8000 a year if that. Oh, also home owner, co habiting and work for civil service. Car kept south side of Glasgow.

Phoned AA = £900
1st Alternative = £789
Confused ranged from £500 to £2000

Elephant = £444 and interestingly reduced to £386 with dad added.
Admiral = £365 with Dad

In the past Dad has always put the premiums up

Still to phone the specialists and go back to Greenlight with the figures...

You might want to give bell direct a call. Should be around the same price as admiral and so you can pit one against the other.

I've just done a quote on a modded 99 20VT, 33yo 6 NCD,1 my fault accident, 3 points sp30, 4k per year, locked garage etc. Norwich union direct quote me unhappy -put my premium up from £480 to £780 so I tried admiral direct against bell. Just agreed fully comp with admiral for £380, £100 excess.

Fergie, if you have got the quote that low, greenlight wont match it. Neil came on here and said if it was lower than a certain amount they cant quote and would be better off taking the policy with the lowest quote

Yeah, phoned Greenlight to politely ask them if they would match it.

Said they couldn't and sounded like good deal. So thanked them for the last 2 years and asked for the no claims docs

Ended up taking out insurance will Admiral.

Several companies were within about £5, but what swung it was that they offered to give me a 'multicar' discount on the Ford Ka when its insurance is up at the end of the month.

The irony is that the Ford Ka is £100 more to insure that the 20vt! (Mainly down to having a 21 year old gf with provisional still ) All in all £820 for both cars fully comp seems like a good deal to me Thats basically what the Ka cost alone last year...
