General opinion is to use Pagid pads, but has anyone experience of EBC red or yellow, as these appear to be more readily available

I've had experience of EBC green and red, and they are pants. I use the Yellows now, and it's as if they came from a different factory. Never made them fade despite a few hours of hard track driving. Work tremendously well when heated up but pretty poor cold.

I've neer used Pagid, but have only heard good things

You can't get any more readily available than the Pagid pads through the Group Buy

1) Phone them
2) Pay
3) Get your pads the next day

How much more readily available would you like it? wink

I have been thunking this myself, not in terms of availability but people experiences with EBC red or yellow as i know lots of people who have used EBC red stuff pads for example on various other cars aparts from coupes and theyve been fantastic, im changing my pads and disks shortly but not sure what to go for. My car has 3g disks at minute which ive seen a few people have on here however mine have warped quite badly so not too impressed with those.
Sowhats peoples opinions/experiences with EBC pads

3g grooved and dimpled discs, yellow stuff pads, braided brake lines. Discs have been round nurburgring 8 times, 2 days at spa and 2 track days in this country and are still going strong.

Matt-> do the yellows warm up in daily traffic just right, or do you really need to brake hard like you do on the track to warm them? I won't use the pads on the track ever, but my current ferodo pads are pants as well and i am looking for a diff pad, but for strictly road use.

(ps. laura07-> sweet wheels, what type/make are they?!)

i recently bought yellow pads, brembo drilled discs front and rear, textar pads rear..... stops like a dream now, although i find the yellows take a little use before up to optimum performance on the road

Didn't you get the pagid yellows proccy?

The yellow stuff will work just fine on road, just need a little more effort. Generally don't get enough heat into them to make them work %100 on an average drive, but on a fast b road blast they will heat up lovely

I've got EBC yellows, very impressed with them for both day to day usage and on track.

Thanks smile theyre Momo alloys. I was gonna get rid as they were in a bad way when i got the car however since looking around for some others i havnt found any i like as much or any i think suit the car as well as these do so have decided to keep them and get them refurbished, also they dont make them any more so are quite rare and from what ive been told only two other people have them on a coop

so would you say that yellows are probably one of best options? Would red take a lot longer to start working at their best?

I've got reds on mine...and they are rubbish when cold. Although a couple of sharp stops from 70 wink on the motorway and they are phenomenal, but they do cool very quickly. I wouldn't recommend them for a daily driver.

I would have thought the reds would be better then yellows when cold, but they will fade long before the yellows would

I've no experience with the yellows so can't comment. The reds do the job I guess (the MOT inspector commented on the power of the front brakes) but you need a heavy foot and there's not a lot of feel when cold, it's like having wooden blocks in there. I never really thrash the car so it's rare the brakes get up to full tempreture frown .

Has anyone else got experience with the reds? Wonder if it's just mine as they came fitted to the car.

So - it's the yellow's that's one step down from the red?
I'd like new pads to change from my old XP8's (Carbotech) which were good for most tracks but not BrakeKiller's like the GP-track at Nurburgring.

I'm also after the Tar-ox C30428 disc's. Has anyone a good source for those?

Fitted Yellowstuff pads bought from the group buy, much better braking from speed, and no worse from cold than original. See how they perform at Mallory next week

I've just fitted Rotor discs front and rear, along with EBC Yellows, the discs look amazing, and from what I can tell so far they work well, but they're quite noisy, not squealing, kind of a grumbling sound that gets louder the harder I brake, is this due to the bedding-in coating on the pads? I've only done 50 miles on them so far, so the coating is still there.
Cheers

Balberoth - I assume the discs are grooved? If so, its the grooves you can hear - they get noisier as the brakes heat up - nothing to worry about

Yes they are, and it's my first set of grooved discs, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect!
The pads have a break-in coating on them, which is as rough as coarse-grade sandpaper, so I'm guessing that they'll get quieter when they wear past the coating?
I'm not bothered about the noise, I just want to know if what I'm experiencing is normal!
Cheers
