Great news, look forward to seeing it at Mallory! Hopefully we don't need to invest in snow tyres.

My brand spanking new £900 turbo has seized absolutely solid.
I set off down to leighton at 5am this morning for mapping and dyno. At about 630 i lost all boost. I couldn't get any positive boost no matter what i did. Persisted down to leighton, and we checked the turbo. The wheel is stuck solid.
Managed to limp my way up to johnny. We started trying to find the reason for 2 turbo's being destroyed, on this engine.
Tested oil pressure to turbo from block, all good@4 bar on idle and around 8 bar on revs. Oil restrictor present, line not blocked, oil return fine, coolant fine.
John rang C R turbo's for any ideas they may have. They have said that the usual reason for a turbo seizing is incorrect balance. If it was an oil pressure issue it would cause smoke/noise.
So, have i just been unlucky and killed 2 roller bearing turbos? 1 brand spanking new and one had about 5k on it.
Very upset today. I'm truly at my wits end facing another £1000 bill after the £000's i've already spent replacing the engine and last turbo.
Feel a bit sick to be honest

What's the story on trying to claim on warranty for the turbo then? After all, it was professionally fitted.

Apart from the terrible luck your having Matt I can't understand why the supplier of the turbo does not replace as part of the warranty?

What's the story on trying to claim on warranty for the turbo then? After all, it was professionally fitted. agreed - surely with johnny being a pro on these cars they have to take his assessment matt? i'd be putting this on their toes, and see their response - as far as it appears to me, this turbo was not fit for purpose if it was fitted correctly (and we know it was) and with what jbt found when you got there. really feel for you matey after what you've been through with your car, but on this there should be something they can do...

Shocking news, Matt ... very sad to hear this But I agree with all the above, surely the turbo supplied must have been faulty? And it must be possible to diagnose this from the turbo?

I will definitly be trying to claim on warranty.
However, nearly every mechanically i have spoken to have had issues with turbo warranty's.
The ususal response is "it's an oil feed issue, therefore not covered on warranty."
At John's today i took photos of the pressure gauge hooked up to the turbo oil feed. I am also going to get a report done on the turbo by CR turbos, which will give the exact reason for it's failure.
All this should hopefully mean the warranty claim goes through a lot easier

Where did you get it from??
How could you trust the supplier again?? I hope you get warrenty, if not I think a trip down there is in order to "express" your anger. I up for driving!!

I don't really want to start a hate campaign against the supplier without proof, so i'll keep their identity to myself for now. The turbo's come with a years warranty, but as i say, not as easy as it sounds to claim. I'm sure most of tomorrow i'll be on the phone. btw marco, you already know
