Well, sorry if this has been covered before but I'm wondering has any one used the different drop link arrangement from the 20v Marea saloon?

For anyone who doesn't know it uses drop links that connect from the arb to the damper body via a ball joint as opposed to the daft setup found in the coupe which goes from the arb to the wishbone and mounted with a rubber bush.

Can any one comment on handling benefits / ride quality?

Never heard of the setup before? Might be worth getting some pictures if you can, then we can comment further on it.

My old Mk2 MR2 had something similar. The drop links were quite long BUT aftermarket ones were easy to get hold of, some dirt cheap ones were prone to bending though.

I'll find a pic..

I can't see this being of great benefit, considering you'd have to change the dampers (or atleast modify them), new ARBs, new droplinks etc...

I'd be much better to design a drop link with spherical bearings each end and then something that can be mounted onto the standard wishbones - enabling the use of off the shelf bearings etc..

The current setup uses rubber bushes to account for the changing geometry on the wishbone side. The drop links are too short to accommodate any other design that would accept the range the motion. My thinking is the turn in would feel sharper. Plus it all bolts straight across from the Marea.
