Im looking to get back into coupe ownership, problem is that i dont have that much money to spend.

Ive seen this which looks good but it does need a fair amount of work. Im thinking that the bearing can be done by myself. But the clutch is going to be around £450 (poweritalia).

Just some thoughts on it would be nice!

The history is good as is the spec, but the price still seems a little high.

I'd buy that. Late, good colour, good history. Interior, plus wheels, springs could be worth a grand or so on their own.

Price actually seems quite reasonable to me, it looks like he's taken into account the work required to bring it back to life and priced accordingly.

I also seem to recall that car has been discussed on here before.....

not badly priced imo, but if you intend to run one of these on a shoestring it might well be the wrong car - or maybe i'm paranoid after spending in excess of £8k in less than a year?

Clutch needs changing
Front brake pads need replacing
Alarm function intermittent
Rear wheel bearing grinding
Dent in front bonnet

that's the list of bad bits. clutch will be c£450 as said, brake pads need doing now, wheel bearing now if not very soon....dent and alarm can possibly wait. i'd think you're looking at £650 to get those done on top of the purchase price, with another £200 for the bonnet and alarm later, depending on what the issue is?

suddenly, not so cheap eh?

Yea i was already trying to factor those other issues into the price. Ive got an RX8 at the moment so it will be cheaper than the oil i have to buy every 5 minutes for that!

It does look good though, i need to view it really. Wonder when it was discussed before, is the owner on this forum?

8k in less than a year... ouch!

Ive read the 'how to' guide in the clutch, maybe i could give it a go myself... or maybe just factor in £450!

Cheers for all the opinions. Ill keep updating

Yes, but personally im not a fan of Cat C cars. I always wonder if they are straight, makes me feel like the handling is affected.

If an insurance company pays out a total loss on a car which is already a Cat C they give approx half the market value. Bare this in mind whe valuing a cat C yourself

forget it.....there are plenty of good coupes around.....you just must be willing to wait.
I waited 6 months to get mine from the first day I decided to go back to coupe ownership.
Just wait mate and you will find the perfect one for you.

That original car is a nice Coupe, with a bit of work she could be turned into a gorgeous one!

Go for it. Looks stunning.
It's a great price for the spec and most coupes (including my one and a lot of ones for sale on this forum despite what the description says) do need a combination of new cambelt/clutch/shocks/thermostat, ideally.
As said you can buy one with the above sorted for 2.5-3 grand or spend £1500 on one that needs £1500 spent on it.
Please don't buy a coupe expecting everything to be sorted, even a mint one needs money spending on it, just not as much.

No i realise it will need money spent, ive owned one before and that cost me fair bit with clutches and gear boxes failing. Im well aware of the dangers of getting one for a price that seems a little too good!

Still cant make contact with the seller anyway.

As others have said it looks like a good car for the price, given that it needs work. You're not too far from Power Italia, who'd be able to get the clutch done smile

Yea they did my last one, ended up finding out that my fifth gear had poked itself out the side of the gearbox! Rog was really good there.

Think the ad may well be too good to be true. Seller hasnt contacted and isnt answering calls. Maybe its sold?

The search continues...
