I have sorned my other car and transferred the insurance to the coop.
I now need to move it off the drive and put it a few miles away.
What are my options guys......don't fancy taxing it for 6 months just to move it ?
I suppose I could insure it for the day but not sure.
Paul

Low loader / trailer - you need tax to insure and to drive on road.

Oh and this thread is in the wrong section - will soon be moved! laugh

You could insure it for the day (Greenlight do short term policies) then book an MOT. You have the right to take it to and from the garage then.

Join the AA or use a (road legal)heavier larger car to toe it.

You still need tax...does he say it has no MOT? I thought the wheels have to be off the road if no tax, so 'normal' towing not applicable? I can't believe the AA would tow a non broken down car anywhere other than a garage confused

Are you sure about that Brewster!!!! Maybe it's different here or maybe I'm mistaken, but our Finace Minister (Sammy Wilson) was done for riding one of his motorbikes with no MOT. His defence was that he was taking it for MOT. And IIRC without an excemption certificate from the DVLA testing centre it was illegal and he was booked

As long as you are driving to a pre-booked MOT appointment then it's allowed.

You still cant put the car on the road without TAX mot or not. . .

AA wont tow your car if the tax has expired... they are funny like that

I just insured it for a week....only £25.
Have an MOT and insurance now so they are the 2 biggies.....I will worry about the tax if I get stopped.....its only 3 weeks out of date.....again no biggie.

Sorry, I forgot I posted here. You can't tax a car without a valid MOT so YES, you can drive an untaxed car to and from a garage for a pre-booked MOT.
