Hi guys,

Going to be sending my Turbo off for a refurb in the next day or two.

Question is where? CR Turbos or Turbo Centre?

Price wise both very similar, both very helpful on the phone, but CR only offer 1 year guarantee and Turbocentre offer a 2 year.

Suggestions please.

thanks

Paul

I would not worry too much about the warranty. All turbo companies have plenty of get out clauses, so take that with a pinch of salt.

CR turbos are supposed to be pretty good, I dont know much about turbo centre.

Try Turbo Dynamics - very helpful when I've spoken with them about a refurb of my turbo

Turbo Dynamice have a good rep, but I have to disagree with Nigel, I found them arrogant and unhelpful.
Possibly slightly higher priced than most too.

Still worth a phone call though and see what you think for yourself.

Now in the 400+ bhp club!

decided to go with CR Turbo's, being collected tomorrow and will be back Friday, will update then.

Gave Turbo Dynamics a call but was too vague on everything for my liking esp price.

How long ago was that done (time-wise) Jas?

Oh! and did you put some FK1000p high temp wax on before fitting? LOL

i got mine done at turbo centre very nice chaps and cheaper than the rivsls i thought as turbo dynamics and turbo technics wanted more for fitting staggered seals were as turbo centre only use staggered seals and there free

and they even checked my turbo after it was installed and that very good 2 year warrenty

c.r turbos every time!... i was qouted £500+ by the 2 main firms mentioned above to have my 28r refurbed and hybridised ??(is that a word?) anyway cr did it for £315 +vat and they did more than the usual mods by upgrding the turbine wheel as well as putting the rs comp wheel in..they were polite ,helpful, offered a collection service that was really cheap and they had it a day before sending it back..with a warrentee.. does it get any better than that?

Just got it back smile

Just under £500 in total to refurb and upgrade to 60 trim comp wheel, 360 bearing and stepped seals.

Very happy with that esp as one place wanted £700 before vat or delivery for the same job shocked

Just need to fit it back in now, along with everything else frown

I'm glad you didn't go through turbo dynamics, i don't like them one bit. I bought a md370 ie.superspool off them in 2004 for mucho money. After using it with no probs for 3 years and then having it sat for 2 years i decided to strip it for a refurb before fitting it to my new coup. I found the bearings were oversize by 0.005", and a 0.005" oversize piston ring was fitted not staggered gap version, as well as an oversize piston ring seat on the turbine shaft. This caused me big headaches sourcing parts which CRTurbo's helped immensely and this was sold as NEW!
