Hello all.

Help!!!! The coupé died last night in a petrol station forecourt 55 miles away from home. It’ll turn over but won’t start. It could be a (1) Blocked fuel filter (2) dead fuel pump (3) cam sensor (4) crank sensor or some/all of the above. Anyways the car is well and truly stuck up in Castlewellan Co. Down.

Can anybody tell me if there is a Coupé friendly garage in the area? I doubt by breakdown insurance will agree to transport it to Dundalk for me, but they might agree to take it somewhere within 20 miles or so. I’m really under pressure on this one!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Daithí

Hi Daithi,

just seen this. I have Willie Kennedy's number but he is in Ballymena.

I will give you a text as well.

Regards

Just texted you there Colin,

The towtruck will only tow free of charge to the nearest competant garage which will be Newcastle, about 4 miles away. After that I've to pay a set towing fee per km. Ballymena is over 90km away from Castlewellan. Dundalk is only 57km, so home would be cheaper and more convenient geographically (home is 145km from Ballymena). Ideally I'm looking for somewhere within say 10km-20km.

Sorted...kinda....

It's the crank sensor that's at fault, according to the widget. The car will start from stone cold (thanks for letting me know that Karlos475 thumb), so as long as I don't turn it off when the engine is warm, I should be able to drive it home tomorrow morning (fingers crossed!).

Will order new crank sensor tomorrow from Steve at AA.

Apparently there is a garage in Dunmurry called Eurofix. Alfa specialist but knows his way round a coupe. Hant used him yet myself.
