Looking around on the forum it is suggested that the 16vt has better braking ability than the 20vt.

I owe a 16vt for which I have bought 20vt hubs and brembos. Is it worth fitting them?

Till the end of last year the car was used for fast roading around the country lanes and roads in pembrokeshire and the brakes stopped the car well using standard calipers with ebc red stuff ceramics.

Now I have moved to a town, so the red stuff is too hard/takes too long to warm up.

I was thinking of fitting the brembos at this point. Is it worth while?

You've already identified the problem - its the Redstuff pads - change to something that doesn't require as much heat and you'll be fine without going to the hassle of fitting the Brembos (which won't fit without a lot of work - new hubs, driveshafts, wheels, brake hoses, and quite possibly the master cylinder as well)

the 16vt brakes with the correct pads can probably stop you quicker then the brembo setup and less chances of squeels.

Ive got mintex discs and pads fitted, Supplied by AA and there brilliant for normal driving and when your giving it some down country lanes with no brake fade or squeeling laugh

stay with the 16vt ones, they will stop you well with the right disc and pad combo

if you want to get into big brakes, go the 330mm alfa gta brakes same as Sparco and I run for a decent upgrade

As said a decent disc and pad combo on the 16vt will work better than the Brembos and cost less time and wonga!

Thanks for all your comments.

Looks like I'll be selling the brembos/discs and hubs.

What is considered to be the best pad for town and fast road driving using standard discs?

My car is running quite a lot of boost. Runs around 250bhp.

Mintex were meantioned. Which mintex pads or those?

Sorry chap the outlay was somewhat more than that.

I may see if they will fit on any of my other cars, would be good if they could be manhandled go on the thema turbo but expect the hassle involved maybe more than the bembros are worth, lol.

My guess it's the Mintex 1144 pads. Have a butchers through the handling section for a few opinions on them.
