On the early 20VT gear box when a short shift is fitted, what ratio is the movement reduced by. ie whats the difference in the length of the actuator lever that you change on the box

It a little hard to say, because I can't remember what a 'long' shift is like, and each short shift is slightly different (depending on how far the pivot is moved).

Everyone who has driven my car has commented on how 'short' it is. Too short, really. It means I have to be precise with the changes, as well as use a little more force.

You're along to Silverstone next Friday, aren't you? If so, you are welcome to try mine then.

I love my short shift. I used a 20v VIS at the weekend and the throw of the gearbox was ALOT longer i had to sort of lean forward to get it into first and fifth!

I find the only time that i have any trouble with the short shift is when the gearbox is cold. It can sometimes take a couple of attempts to find second gear but this is only when first pulling away and within a couple of minutes it's smooth as silk laugh
