I just had a thought, you know how you can go to the hairdressers at the tech College and get it cheap because they are just learning? I wondered if there was anything similar like a motor project or a mechanics course where they might like a car to spray? Maybe you would only have to pay for the paint or something? I really wouldn't mind what sort of a job they did, it couldn't be worse than it looks already!

That service is available here in Australia at some tech colleges. I would imagine that it would also be available in the UK.

I know of one some people using it and all they had to do was supply or pay for the materials.

Yes you can. Many years ago when I was at college as a mechanic we took some cars in for work (for no charge and parts supplied) on the odd occasion. Things may have changed, but I doubt it.
You would be better going into the college rather than phoning too.
Worth a try.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I expected people to say "I wouldn't let any apprentices near my Coupe!"

I bought my first Coupe, an old Scottie, from a motor project for young ex-offenders who had been caught stealing cars. A few days after buying it I received an email from one of these lads saying he had the spare key for my Coupe, and if I let him have my address he would post it to me.

I almost did too!

But what if that ex-offender lad enrolled on the course, and he used an electric toothbrush to paint your whole Coop with Dulux paint, then used that Scottie spare key to take this Coop for a spin, ended up crashing it into a wall and then used a manual toothbrush to paint the damaged area with watercolour paint?

It would look worse then, right? confused

Try Bracknell and Wokingham college, they do all sorts there including bodywork.

Don't know if they'll work on a private car but no harm asking.

What ifs don't worry me! I am not suggesting leaving my Coupe with an ex offender's project, but with a further education college. I think there are classes for the learning disabled at my local one, where they tinker with cars. At the moment though I don't even have the funds to supply the paint, I was just putting the idea out there.
