Bearing in mind that if you did have a blowout/mechanical failure/suicidal pigeon you might end up being very dead. You could equally end up dead following the above at 60mph...

I've been up to a whisker shy of 170mph on an empty dual-carriageway and by that speed things really did feel rather fast, and that was on a bike, which effectively makes the road much wider.
In a car I doubt I'd want to go much faster. I think I'd take it to 200, just for the brag-factor, but I can't imagine wanting to go much beyond that.
Just as a point of interest - if the Highway Code had the bottle to list stopping distances up to 300mph it would be about 0.9 miles, so you might want to make sure you've got your best glasses on before you try to join the triple-ton club.

If you have the freedom of the road and it's straight, i would say upto 250mph maybe.

Knowing this forum's stance on such things, can we please avoid talking about what illegal speeds we may have got up to - including on any, nudge nudge not convincing anyone, 'private track'
If we can't then the key-janglers will be along

Sorry, Mark, my post contained a typo, which I've now corrected. I hope this now meets with forum rules

It's all down to familiarity - 140 is pretty quick and I've done it a few times (although usually in the wide-open spaces of an airfield) Nudge nudge Say n' mowa

Will agree with that, I once had a 80 mph pigeon smash into the widscreen in line with my eyes. It destroyed the entire screen with a 3" dent where it actually hit. It shook up the biker who was following me pretty badly: The remains just missed his visor. Not the coupe but a company Montego I once had.

We must all do our part for the planet. I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
