^ Technics, you are more than welcome to come out in mine, as well ... although I'll probably be taking it quite easy, as I'm still very much learning the handling

... although I'll probably be taking it quite easy, as I'm still very much learning the handling What, still? You won't be able to use that excuse when you post the fastest time I made an interesting discovery yesterday (well, for me). I bought a ported 1600 Supersport engine two years ago to make my car more competative in class. I actually found it was only about a second a lap faster at Castle Combe than my 1400 which was disapointing. Having thrown a lot of time and a mapped ECU at the car we (Flea) still struggled to get more power from the engine. Under advice from an engine builder I measured the cam lobes and found they are standard Rover cams, NOT Supersport versions! It's almost a relief to find this at last and to know that another 10BHP would be available should I change them! Long story short, if I lose my crown this year, I blame the relatively standard engine

Just for a bit of fun, I've checked the best times from Curborough's 2011 calendar and compared them with the times from the FCCUK event in May 2011 For reference, the 20vt would come into the "over 2000cc" classes, as there's a 1.7 multiplier on the actual cc for forced induction cars. So - the best Curborough times for the relevant classes for the "long course" (two laps) are: Standard production - up to 2000cc (Coupe n/a class) - 67.1 sec (Honda S2000) Standard Production - over 2000cc (Coupe turbo class) - 64.7 sec (Porsche 993RS) Modified production - up to 2000cc - 64.46 sec (Honda S2000) Modified production - over 2000cc - 64.27 (Ferrari 348) And for Fishy Dave and DaveT - Modified kit up to 1700cc - 60.4 sec (Westie 1600) Modified kit up to 2000cc - 55.9 sec (Westie 1900) And just to bring it home - the course record for TWO laps is just under 50 seconds

Ooh, interesting stuff, thanks Nigel. Shows how far off the pace I am. HERE it shows that Westfield is running 206BHP (mine is 138), weighs 535kg (mine is 560kg) and is using list 1b sticky tyres (I was running old 1a). There, that will do for the excuses again

Sound an interesting meeting. Isn't it a 1.4 multiplier applied to forced induction cars though Nigel? Yes, I'm still lingering around (looking out for a Black LE for sale)... James

James Yes - you're right - I couldn't remember and I couldn't be bothered to look it up When I was competing in Sprints in my first Coupe, I was at a hige disadvantage, as I was competing with cars like Porsche 911s and Ferraris.

Still - I'm doing a daily rain dance - that'll sort the FWD men from the RWD boys....
Vision of Nigel wandering through the kitchen in his dressing gown in the morning all sleepy. Putting on the kettle then going out to the front garden and performing a 10 minute rain dance each morning
