Ok, most of you know how this works now.

Time to try again with some weight loss and succeed hopefully.

Having spent years trying to lose weight before attempting to stop smoking, neither was happening.
I didn't concentrate too much on my weight in 2012, as I decided to try to stop smoking first this time.
I've now stopped smoking for just under a year, so it's time to concentrate on the weight loss, again!

As usual, I weigh myself every Monday and record any weight gain/loss, as well as everyone elses.

The thread is edited and updated throughout the week, with a bump to the top every Monday.

Post your target weight and your start weight, preferably in stones and lbs, but any will do.

I will weigh myself on Monday 31st December 2012 for my start weight, with the intention of starting my diet on either Tuesday the 1st or Wednesday 2nd January 2013

Good luck!!

Weight Loss thread 2012 for those who want to look back.

Here we go again rolleyes laugh

Right this'll be my third year at this, and my "progress" has been abysmal - this coming year, however, it will be different.

Because of my previous failures, my starting weight is a thoroughly lardy 225lb confused irked

Can you add me please T, last years goal was to reach under 17, I got stuck at 17-3 and then gave up a bit and as we stand today (i.e. in the midst of mince pies still) I am 17-6

So start weight, lets say 17-6 (but I'll update that on Monday) and goal lets say 16-9 and I'll try to pop in and update more than last year..

can we add other goals too?

to put this into context, ive been gyming and got my pb on the bench this year, and that is somewhat difficult with diets, so im aiming for a new pb whilst losing some lard!

I joined Slimming World in June and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone here (I'm not ready to publish my starting weight online) But I have lost 2.5 stone in that time. I've allowed myself 3 days off plan this week, weigh in tomorrow and then back on it with a vengeance in 2013. I'd like to lose another 2.5 stone by June.

It must help the car go quicker too smile

Yes, you can add other goals if it helps smile Nothing too complicated though laugh

Well done Benny cool Yes Slimming World and any others, such as Weighwatchers are all good, providing you stick with it, like anything else really, it's all about will power, control and changing habits.

Target weight 12 st. 0 lbs.

My reason is to increase my power/weight ratio (W/Kg) for domestic TimeTrialling.

Weighed in this morning at 17st 9 lbs, so although I'm not happy with my weight, I'm happy that I'm starting 2013 4 lbs lighter than this time last year smile

My diet/healthier eating starts tomorrow. My target is to lose a reasonable 7 lbs a month and providing it goes well, I should be around 5 stone lighter by October 2013.

That's my plan anyway laugh

I'm in for this year. I have to be good as well for health reasons, so in theory I should manage it.

I'd like to hit my ideal weight before my little one is born, do got about 4 months.

Start weight 12st 10lbs
Target Weight 11st 7lbs

Edited my start weight as apparently converting from lbs to stones and lbs is a bit beyond me sometimes. So further to go than I realised.

Would i be able to join in this year?

Lost 4 stone last year, through a strict regime of diet and exercise, only to put almost 2 stone back on in the last few months through an even stricter regime of donner kebab and haagen dazs. blush

Hopefully actually documenting my weight for all to see shall give me the metaphorical kick in the behind i need.

Aiming for 13 stone, i'll post my start weight when the new scales arrive, if thats okay?

The Coupes wing mirrors are the perfect height to assist you with that Matt. Just remember to do it in the garage, my neighbours never wander round to my driveway anymore...

Rather than shout abuse from the side lines, I am in.... 15.1 stone on New Years Day. Target = under 13 stone, but will be happy with 13.7 by the end of this year.

JBT, when I stopped smoking a few years ago, I piled the weight on, started smoking again and stayed at a steady weight, but then I have cut right back these last 12 months and I now have a 'fuller' figure. I always figured gaspers were an appetite suppressant? Just an observation, as I guess it was also at a time I moved to a less active job, but I was still exercising... Just an interesting point you made from my point of view.

Not condoning smoking as a method of weight loss - just to be clear - as I am a greedy cloud9 when it comes to food.

Just like to share my experience on the subject of weight loss. Firstly I never started out to loose any weight at all, it was a case of a health kick.

I'm a carer & stalk the corridors of the ill, overweight & all that's not healthy so to speak. After watching a program on telly about the UK unhealthy life style, both my wife & myself went on to change our eating & drinking habits. Gave up all alcohol for ten weeks & although we both eat quite healthily we cut out all bread & potatoes for that ten week period as well.

I went from a 36" waist to a 34" quite easily. Obviously I lost weight but my health improved, had a bit more spark, aye in more departments than I would have thought rotate

My wife was always a size ten, but she's happy with things as well. I exercise by swimming, I'm a member of a health club & swim at least 5 times a week. The weekend became a habit for us, meal with x amount of wine & on it went. An another added bonus I've saved quite a substantial amount of dosh by not buying wine. which is always nice. Rather alarmingly this ran into the hundreds shocked

Hope this story can spur on others. Best of luck.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time
