I have a budget for Coupe refresh and have just renewed Droplinks, wishbones, clutch etc etc.

Car is currently on Eibach springs it rides good with good handling, it has a Sparco front upper strut brace.

While generally satisfied with handling, I feel it could be a bit sharper do I:

1. Fit the Whiteline 22mm rear ARB?
2. Bite the bullet and fit Bilstein shocks? (According to some posts on here, that may involve refitting standard springs). And some have said they noticed no real difference after fitting, current standard shocks are working OK. (Yes bump stops were cut when fitting the springs)

Any advice gratefully received.

Happy

If your shocks are the original ones the Coupe came with then they are probably past their best and I'd say it's worth getting the Billies.

You've got a very similar set up as me, full refresh, upper (and lower) braces and I run the Billies with Eibachs. The ride is fine even over speed bumps, I've never had them bottom out and the handling is great.

One thing worth replacing if you do the shocks is the top mount bearings, as over the years they get knackered. Changing them for new items makes a good difference to how it feels through the steering wheel.

Hi Gunzi - Would that be B6 Billies?

Get the top mount bearings too, if they're original. That's £50 or so well spent!

Enjoy, they change the dynamics of the car.

Wouldn't a set of BC Coilovers cost roughly the same price as a set of billies, eibachs and new top mounts?

The new cost is roughly £600, but it depends on whether you want a fast road set up or a track set up, and where you drive regularly.

The coilovers are going to give you options for adjusting the set up to your liking where as billies and eibachs are fixed.

I'd wager the coilovers are going to give a much more firm ride than the billies and eibachs. If you keep an eye on the parts section used items come up from time to time offering a big saving over new.

I've seen 2 different topmounts on coupe's i ve seen in Belgium.Mine are the same as the Tempra. The other looked different. Maybe bravo/brava.is there anyone who knows the difference? They were mounted on a coilover kit from PEPE tuning. I thaught they were from EIBACH.
