Thanks to all for a great day, just got back with rear brake complaining like a bastard....properly killed it off. Definitely a warped disc now. . Nothing broken though, which is good, but had manky drive home in the rain, and managed to go through just over 100 liters of fuel. Good to see some old faces, and finally get a ride in begbie's 16vt. Had fun going sideways, planned and unplanned as driver and passenger too. Looking forward to the next one.

Yes a great day Good to see the usuals, the new and the recently absent The newly acquired Clio was fantastic. It did many laps wet and dry and took it all in it's stride. A few tweaks are needed and extra weight saving plans are already in progress. I forgot how much fun the Clio is on track; very different from the MK Indy, but I was grinning like an idiot all the same. Fishy was on form as usual. Cheers for taking the Clio out to show me how it should be done. Highlight was watching him give Suba's RX7 a spanking I'm glad we had no major issues with any of the cars too. Shame I can't make the next one. If anyone is thinking of going, DO IT! A cheap day out and so much fun. If you haven't been on track before it's the perfect introduction, build up at your own pace. Thanks to Paul for all the hard work as usual

Great day as usual. Took the opportunity to run 2 different cars this time, much to Sandy Tim's disapointment, as it didn't allow him to beat me in the wet in a Coupe.(tactics Tim) Big thank you to Paul for organising it once again. I hope this is not this last one. If its not can members condsider Pauls efforts and only say they are going to attend if they are prepared to part with their money. Thanks also to Fishy Dave for the ride in his Caterham, showing me how my Alfa should have gone round. Steve

Thanks to everyone that came, great day again, highlights for me were;
Fishy Dave been bloody quick in what ever he drove, JBT giving the Volvo death, Jonny been a hooligan in the Clio, Nigel pulling a quick lap out of the bag every time someone come close to his time, Steve's gorgeous Alfa, and been able get my fat arse in Daves Caterham for a passenger ride.
Fingers crossed today won't be the the last.

Another fun day at Curborough, thank you for the effort and cost that goes into these events. The way that the CSCC operate their race meetings is as follows, maybe we should adopt this too? Entrants must pay up front to secure their place, no point putting their name down without money. If they can't make the race they can have their money back provided their is a reserve who can take there place and pays in full. If no reserves then regretably they get no refund. Entrants cannot give or sell their race entry to other people either. Hope that makes sense, pretty tired today having got back just after midnight. The day itself was great fun, good to see my wife driving with a smile on her face. My first run of the day proved to be my fastest, although my second would have been quicker had I not taken to the grass before Molehill. Thanks to Jonny for letting me drive his Clio 172 Cup; it had been 7 or 8 years since I last drove one. The memories came flooding back as it wagged its tail (the Clios not Jonny) into every corner, great fun and I thought it sounded great. My favourite bit of the day was driving Subas RX7. I’ve never driven one before so didn’t know quite what to expect. Off the startline I made a pretty rubbish get away getting used to the paddle clutch and didn’t use enough revs on the first run, had a fun sideways moment going into molehill with a dab (ok, a lot) of oppo and a bit of power and we got through ok (not sure if Simon thought we would!). I really wanted to do that again and kindly Simon said yes. Another poor start, used more of the upper rev ranges this time and slightly less lairy produced a better time. Great fun, a really well balanced car that is very LOUD with pops and bangs on the over-run. I can see that this car would be very quick on a full track where it can stretch its legs. After my two early runs I didn’t drive the Caterham until mid afternoon, but I was happy to let others drive it before lunch whilst it was still dry. I think Nigel would agree with my prior warnings that it was going to be tail happy this time due to running on old, mismatched tyres front and rear, with too much rake producing a twitchy car. Who got the fastest time between Father and Son? Funny seeing JBT have to drive barefoot after the first run driving the Seven, his size 12s hitting more than one pedal at a time. A pity the rain set in as that Exige 240 might have given me quite a bit to worry about producing times of 1.06s in the damp before it got very wet. The track was very slippery in the afternoon, with the car giving me issues of both understeer and snap oversteer with not much warning of either. I was down to about 10mph to get to the apex around Fradley before drifting out onto the straight. Last run of the day I managed a spin to the infield with no damage done except to the grass and an unfortunate slug. I must say that I was impressed with the consistency of some drivers times, this is something I need to work on. Really hope that the July event takes place, can we pay now?

Looks like a great day!!, I'm sorry I wasn't there as for some reason I thought it was next Sunday.. errr . It wasn't till Squid pointed out the difference between the date and when I thought it was!!
Shame I missed this one, was in Ireland this weekend.
Waiting to see the times and see how the cars compared!, that's what's great about track days, a good leveller or cars

I'll drop you an email this weekend dave about sorting out an airfield day, my brother in the Indy hayabusa and my dad are keen. It's quiet for a single turbo, ported rotary....seriously. The clutch is a pain to pull off with, very easy to bog or spin up, as all probably gathered from my efforts. It's a shame it was wet in the afternoon, you could have had another couple of runs, and I reckon you would have been close to the 1 min mark in the dry. Definitely up for another session, and could get at least 3 or 4 friends to come along I'm sure, not coupes though I'm afraid. Was great to catch up....it's been a while!

Finally found time to type up the lap times.... Sandytim, JBT and Jonny all needed two lines of times Best time is highlighted in yellow, fastest Coupe time in green, fastest time of the day in red. Times in blue were various degrees of damp, ranging from a bit moist to standing water. A few photos will be up later

Cheers Nigel. Not bad considering I hadn't driven the car in anger before. With a tighter back end I could easily knock that down into the low 6s I reckon. The wet was fun sliding about

Some other useful information
Trip computer showed 3 mpg
So on an £97 tank covering that miles ,with 50 miles left of range in the tank, how much did each mile cost me in fuel?
