Oh yes - been keeping tabs on the new Alfas for a few years now.

Its the only marque my other half gets excited about, our next new family car will hopefully be one.

Front end = fail!

I am a big Alfa fan but that looks shocking, the only plus point is the giant tele-dials. Fiat would be better doing an entry level Maserati to compete with M / AMG / RS spec German cars. It could easily turn into an RZ / SZ style epic fail.

I think that is an entry level Maserati effectively - the V6 biturbo is a Maserati engine isn't it?

The new generation of RWD alfas better be bloody good is all I can say. I love Alfa just like any other petrolhead, but seriously, the Alfa "range" is a joke at the moment.. possibly the worst in the brand's history? Apart from the ultra rare 4C all they offer is a couple of shopping cars. Sad state of affairs.

I had rather fancied the mazda/alfa roadster - but the rumour seems to be that it won't be an alfa after all and might end up as a fiat.

You hit the nail on the head there! smash

Nobody would never think by looking at the current Alfa range that its a petrol head's marque.

The engine is great, the body styling is poor, not even swapping the gash wheels with telephone dials would save it!

Fiat would still be better plugging it as a mas, no one buys expensive alfas. Look at the 166.....

The range is way too small, but there's nothing wrong with the Giulietta. I had a MiTo before and enjoyed that too smile.

I can think of a couple of things.

1. No proper hot version (V6, manual gearbox etc)
2. The front end light cluster is just hurl

Well, each to their own. We all know that good cars don't have to have a V6 wink . Manual box is still available - just, and mine has 170bhp which is fine for shopping. I like the lights too laugh

I like the rear lights, bootiful. But an Alfa needs those lovely three in a row front clusters.

I was eyeing up the new QV, but it doesn't come with a proper gear box frown

Got the Giulietta as a MiTo replacement because the MiTo now only has the TCT box. Opinions are divided on that transmission - I haven't tried it, but it looks as though all cars are heading that way for better or worse. The Giulietta is nicer to drive than the MiTo though - better ride & steering - so v happy with it.

If it looks like that I'd be interested as an upgrade from our Giulietta. Not sure id get the 500bhp version though, a bit pricey for me!

Having driven both I agree that the Giulietta is nicer than the MiTo, although the 155 bhp engine variant is peppy!

Frankly I love the Giulietta, if you want that sized hatch your choices are mostly boring motors, a ubiquitous German car, Focus, Astra etc. The Giulietta looks stunning in comparison and turns heads, so it was a no brainer!

Sorry, we've hijacked this into a Giulietta thread. But the Giulietta really is a good car - certainly the most complete Alfa I've had, and I've had Alfas for 30 years. Don't know why it gets a lukewarm press generally - it's the first Alfa where you never need to say, 'Yes but it's Italian' as an excuse. Still, the Coupe is similarly unrecognised - it was and still is a fantastic car, and better than the Alfa GTV competitor, which is why it was discontinued rolleyes

Can I point to where it says 'this is how it could look'? This is just a very lousy rendering made by an intern or something.
