Seeing all the rubbish on Facebook (Euro Alfa forums) , I like the look of the new Guilia.
It does look a little like a BMW, but Audis even more so, and it is distinctive.
I see several comparing it to a 159, which I don't get at all. Styling on the 159/Brera/Spider was amazing, and they were all good to drive, but GM platform, front wheel drive, overweight... The Guila is going to be something different.
I am liking it!!

Just wait till AutoDelta breath on it, then this will be a masterclass like they did with the 147, 156 and 159. Forget turbo's, love twin superchargers.

FWD was povety spec 159's. The powerful ones had Q4. Which is 4WD. 60/40 Bias.

Have to agree with the 4WD system adding weight and being the enemy.
Right back to the 33 Permanent 4, it was a solution to remedy the evils of an inadequate chassis and torque steer from the 16v engine, and made the car less nice to drive in most circumstances.
Moving on to slightly newer tech, having driven most variations of Alfa 155 and currently owning a Q4 and V6, the additional weight is really noticeable on the Q4. It is a lovely car to drive on fast A roads, but the V6 is far nimbler in most everyday circumstances.
I haven't driven a 159 Q4, but owned 2.4 JTDM, which handled well but already felt weighty. I'd hardly call it poverty spec given its engine and interior, but can only imagine the Q4 version would be a lovely car to drive but heavier still, with little day to day benefit from 4WD on everyday roads.

And when Prodrive breathed on the V6 Brera to improve it, pretty much all they did was ditch the 4WD. ........don't forget the Eibachs and Billies
