Hi everybody,

Very new to the forum and about to collect my Coupe really soon (cant wait).

Just have a quick question, did the Coupe ever come with a central armrest?

If not has anyone attempted to install one? if so which one and from where?

I've seen this one on eBay

eBay - Armrest

Many thanks,

ST

There was never a factory fitted armrest, this is a BMW armrest.

I used to fit these occasionally to BMWs and found them very annoying, they get in the way of the handbrake and make the cabin feel cramped. I do have long arms.

Never heard of one on a coop but I'd like one, as long as you could flip it up out of the way!

I dont get armrests - on any car, they just get in the way of my elbow when shifting on a manual, and get in the way for some reason with autos too.

The first thing I do on getting in a BMW is move the damn thing out of the way!

It's mine - and is indeed a BMW armrest. It fits snugly, but looks good, see below...

Happy bidding thumb

I think cowboy was one of the first to fit an arm rest to a Coupe, wasn't expensive and I don't think it was a BMW one either.

A lot of the Alfa's have armrests and as above, I also don't like them and push them up out of my way, extremely annoying!

You're right T but I thought it looked good and stock. Wish I'd done the same now. They are a "marmite" mod but Karl retrimmed his to match his tan interior.

He bought it off eBay and if memory serves, it was German eBay and worked out @ £25?

I have an early ebay arm rest, looks ok but is a bit plasticy close up. It is the perfect shep size and postition. I removed it for a while and could not believe how much i missed it. I'll post a pic later.

It does not get in the way of gear shifting or handbrake operation.

Thanks for the info guys.

Sounds silly but I'm so used to driving with one in the car now, do miss it!

Hi

Which BMW armrest was it? Personally I do think it is missing one for long journeys, most of which is the same gear. I also noticed you'd shorted your gear stick, is that something easy to do as I'm very new to car DIY.

Thanks

Funnily enough, yesterday I had some free time and decided to head down to the scrappy to see if i could find a suitable arm rest…. and I ended up with this!

It does decline one more notch but you need to put the handbrake down to achieve this. It seems to be out of the way for gear changes on that setting, but it can also be flipped up in-between the seats so it's properly out of the way.
