No, just no. Pixar don't make bad films. Have you watched it? Perhaps calling it a bad film is too harsh, but I would call it an emotionally devastating kids film.

No, just no. Pixar don't make bad films. But in this case, boy did they make an exception. Billed by no less a film guru than Mark Kermode as a potential Best Picture Oscar winner (I kid you not), I found it to be the most trite, stereotype-reinforcing load of codswallop I've seen since... Hugo. Good call Jim!

Well perhaps I'm a little biased as I have a soft spot for Pixar. Up! would be in my top 10 all time films.
Everyone sees things differently, of course, but most critics/review websites rank it very highly indeed. Absolutely right. I'm only speaking for myself - and I was very surprised, given the universally positive reviews (apart from Jim, obviously!)

Hmmm .. having been badly misled by the title of another thread (Crap Jokes), which actually started to include some rather good ones, I need to put out a reality check on this one.
If I say ....
"Captain Corelli's mandolin"
is anyone still there??

Better not show this thread to Mrs Wishy, they'll be sparks flying as she loves that film! To be fair it's probably more due to liking Kefalonia having been there and also having read the book.
Looks like I dodged a bullet only to be smacked in the face with a shovel during last summer as we only only just missed out on going to see Inside Out. We went to see Pixels instead which was woeful (although probably not bad enough to be on this list). I couldn't believe how someone had managed to make a film revolving around around retro video games which I love so uninvolving...... On second thoughts, Adam Sandler is in it, no further explanation necessary.
I'm going to add Adam Sandler's entire filmography to this list.
Up yours Photobucket.

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. It has always astounded me how someone with so little talent in their chosen field can make such a good career out of it.
Paradoxically, I'd also class Nicholas Cage and Keanu Reeves as being pretty mediocre actors but they've both been in great films. Mr. Sandler doesn't even have that to redeem himself.

It has always astounded me how someone with so little talent in their chosen field can make such a good career out of it. Jason Statham. Although, I must say I gained a little respect for him after hearing him interviewed a little while back. He said something along the lines of, "look, my films are never going to win an Oscar. But they keep paying me [very well] to be this one dimensional action hero. Why would I say no?"

I might have to look Spy up then. I have to say that a film with those two AND Miranda Hart (who I believe to be as funny as Adam Sandler is talented) would not normally get to the "lets watch this for 5 minutes because there's nothing else on" stage in this house.
This thread is actually giving me ideas of stuff to watch!

I fully concur. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Spy. Law and Statham in self-mocking mode and Miranda Hart manages not to ruin it. Nice Alfa Spider, too.

Seen loads of shite, but I'll chuck in a classic film everyone appears to rave about. Life of Brian. So shite I fell asleep through it in the cinema.

Lair of the White Worm may get AndrewR out of retirement Huh? Wha? LotWW is, of course, brilliant...as is Eraserhead. I think I'd vote for 'Pearl Harbour', that's pretty dreadful.
