I live in a semi detached so already have one cloud9 next to me that likes playing loud music and can't shut her doors without slamming them and making the whole house shake - I do the same to retaliate, yet she hasn't learnt grr

I've recently had new neighbours the other side of me and today, they've decided to attach a gate to the side of their house, but using my fencing too grr
Seems like they've fixed a gate onto their house, but using my fence panel too.
I paid over 3K to have fencing put up around my boundaries and these cheeky f**kers haven't even had the decency to ask if they can use my fence panel as support or whatever they're doing.

If I need to take the fence panel out to paint or replace, I can't, due to their attachments.

It's a council house, so am going to see the tenants tomorrow and then the council.

I'm f**king fuming that they didn't even have the decency to ask me first.

What is it these days with people thinking they've got the right to do whatever the f**k they want grr

Ah Theresa, that's a real pain to say the least. Having crappy neighbours who please themselves is no joke. If left to their own devises, they can have quite an effect on your day to day living. Of no help to yourself, in my neck of the woods I'm very lucky indeed, apart from the odd yappy dog, life is gentle & easy going. Hope you get things sorted out.. smile

I need to win the lottery so I can go and live on an island somewhere, away from people!

I don't like people much anyway and living around here takes my hatred to another level grr

I really wish I could be somewhere where there was just the odd yappy dog.

I despise humans more and more each day (present company accepted) and wish I could be away from the lot of them frown

I feel exactly the same!

I am currently very lucky as I have two very quiet single ladies either side of me but there is still the people that live the next one down..hmm

If you own the fence you are within your rights to tell them to remove it!
Best to speak to them to nip it in the bud, you should also then discover if they are just naive and thoughtless or just assholes
Hope you sort it!

There's an odd bit of legislation called the Shared Wall Act or something along those lines. It says what parties can do to your wall, sometimes with and sometimes without permission - you probably need to check it out.

As far as my memory serves, that ^ all depends on if it is jointly owned and considered to be on the boundary straddling both sides but if Theresa owns the fence and it is solely on her property i.e. upto the boundary then this does not apply

It's on the boundary as I had it put there to replace old hedging and chain link fencing.

The houses either side of me are council owned and obviously nobody paid towards the fencing, so I paid for it myself, so it's my fence.

I haven't seen how their gate has been attached yet, but from what I can see so far, it's stopping me from taking the fence panel out if I needed to paint, repair or replace it.

Just been around there and she said she didn't realise and will see if the person/builder (I'm not sure who was doing it) can move it.

I've said if it can be attached to the concrete post without damaging it then I don't mind as much as I'll still be able to get the fence panel out if I need to.

Even though she didn't think to ask or didn't realise I wouldn't be able to get the panel out, the person who attached the gate to my fencing would have known grr

Just spoke to them again and they said they'll ask the lad that did it to move it.

They seem pleasant enough anyway (at the moment) laugh

Will wait and see now.

Always worth the punt of keeping an even keel with neighbours in my experience, you never know when they (we) can be useful e.g. potential car thieves/damagers, thieves etc

I understand your pain, when we moved detached was explicitly one factor we wanted and wasn't budging on it.
Very lucky we found it and have a lot of space away from the neighbours.
In our old semi the neighbours had a bangra drum that they liked to play very sat and Sunday morning.

I had one of my old Astra GTE's smashed up, beer can through the back window, etc., rang the police 3 times before they came out, although it was early hours of new years day, so probably busy, yet all the noise and commotion and not one f**king neighbour came to see what was going on and if I was ok.

My neighbours will never be useful and I'd never ask them for anything!

I've just come home and found a wooden baton has been thrown over my fence grr Luckily no nails in it as one of my dogs ran over it in her excitement to get out. That's now been thrown back into their garden grr

I have another c**tt opposite me who keeps parking his f**king van over my drive meaning I really struggle to get on my drive when I get home grr

Then from 8am onwards, I'll have the c**tt that's attached to me slamming her front door every 2 minutes, making the whole house shake grr

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH grr grr grr

I know Simon, I wasn't having a go at you, sorry. Just trying to explain how it is where I live frown

It's just that some of my neighbours really are horrible, or maybe it's me being a lot less tolerant and becoming worse as I get older and despising people more and more.
There's other neighbours that are ok, especially one that lives opposite me (not the prick that parks his van over my drive who's also opposite me), he's always been considerate, takes my parcels in, etc.
If I won the lottery, he's the only one I would tell that I'm leaving and probably give him some money too.

It's a bit awkward to show on photos, just how hard it is to get a Coupe on the drive when the van is parked so far over where the kerb drops.

click to enlarge click to enlarge

It's easy to get out of the drive, as I have to turn right, it's when I'm trying to get on the drive, I have to pull up alongside the van and then try and reverse around it without hitting my gatepost, his van and my old Coupe grr

As said, the photos don't truly show how awkward it is frown

I should just knock on their door when I'm home after midnight and hand them the Coupes keys and tell them to try and get it on the drive rolleyes

While I'm on Photobucket, here's a photo that's been taken of my car by someone and posted on the Facebook group 'Parking like a t**t in Wrexham' laugh

It's a Lidl car park and I'm parked at the furthest end possible, where nobody usually parks, but someone decided they liked my car parked over two spaces so much, they'd take a photo:

I am officially a t**t laugh

Cups of tea whilst chatting over the garden fence, children's laughter in the distance, birds cheeping away, sun's always shining ,etc etc. My friend moved to Bangor county court as chief clerk[ top honcho] and the staff had a sit-in and refused to work with her as she was english. You have the dragon and we have the rose, says it all really !!.............and yes your parking is diabolical yes yes laugh laugh laugh

Chin up Theresa, rise above it. Only one wee story sticks out with me a few years back about neighbors. I still have a laugh at my self when telling this. Few years back, home from work Friday night & all for R&R. Into the shower, back down stairs in my evening attire hippy Any way what the hell is that noise? confused Our gable end is directly on to a pavement on a corner. Outside I go & here are a dozen or so teenagers congregating & for some reason kicking & jumping on my house..

Go back to bed granddad, some youth retorts. Just bugger off the lot of you I replies, & another thing I'm just out of the shower, I'm not going to bed untill much later silly It didn't dawn on me what a prize I looked until I told the wife what all the noise was outside. All a bit lame, but I saw the funny side... laugh

Theresa, I just watched John Wick II, want me to come round and 'fix' the neighbours while the movie plot is still in my head?

Oh, I said movie plot in the same sentence as John Wick, there wasn't one, but if you like guns, bullets, knives, exploding heads and death then I just ruined the film for you.

The tw@at with the van is over my drive again tonight ffs.

I swear to god, I'm about 1mm away from snapping and f**king killing someone.

I work hard and paid a lot of money for the driveway, dropped kerb and gates, etc and after coming home from being out for over 9 hours I have some tw@t that thinks it's fine to park over it grr grr

That film, The Purge, needs to become reality grr

Up here I'm fairly sure it's illegal to park across a driveway, even if it's your own!

Something to do with emergency service access I believe...

I've looked into all this and it seems that people can block your driveway if they want , as long as they don't stop you from exiting. Trying to get back on your driveway doesn't seem to matter around here, according to the rules/law, etc.

I've looked into the white 'H' bar that goes across the drive, but didn't see the point in paying for that when people will still park over it and it's not enforcable.

I'm putting a note through their door later and if it keeps happening then I'm going to start knocking on their door when I get home at midnight or just after and hopefully wake them up.

Why are people so inconsiderate and just general c**ts these days? grr As long as they are ok, who gives a f**k about anyone else?
If I could afford to re tax and re insure my old Coupe, I would and would push it out onto the road to take up the parking space near my drive!
