Hi All, I'm having a 'few' issues with my wife's Evoque, 2.2 diesel auto. We've owned it since new in 2015 and it has been in and out of the dealers for a range of problems but the latest is really baffling me. Clip 1 Clip 2 It happens when the engine is off. Only the ignition has been turned on i.e. pressing the start/stop button without pressing the brake and the times it has occurred was when it was hot [for the uk] 25+ degrees. The car had not been run for several hours before the noise. It is of course intermittent and is not generating fault codes. It is in the dealers at the moment and I also asked them to investigate a boost whistling noise while on boost and what sounded like a quiet atmospheric dump valve. They came back to me yesterday and said it needs a new turbo again (it was replaced approx. 18 months ago) so we're waiting on Land Rover to confirm the warranty claim. As I thought about it more after the call with the dealer, I don’t think the clips and the turbo can be related. I believe them to be separate issues. The car wasn’t running, hadn’t been run it was just the ignition on so the turbo wouldn’t have been rotating. I called the service assistant to let them know my thoughts and she was going to check with the technician and get back to me. Any one have any ideas what it might be?

Sounds a darn weird noise? Pretty poor for the age especially if you've already had one Turbo?! My wife was interested in an Evoque but we've heard of a few issues and they are just too rich for me. Even the 100k ones are still £15k?! We're getting a lovely nearly new fully loaded 500X for nearer £10k thank you very much.

Nello, the turbo replacements are just one of the reasons its been to the dealers. Pretty poor is an understatement for our car - its also had;
* Sat Nave that will only take you to Belgium (twice) leading to a replacement of the whole interface module. * Anti Roll bar bushes at about 10,000 miles. * Sensor failure (cam shaft I think) putting the car into limp home mode. This happened on the trip home from having the turbo replaced the first time! * Gearbox problems * Return visits after servicing as parts were incorrectly fitted. * Return after the turbo was replaced because of a boost leak. * Sat nav turning on all settings such as avoid motorways, toll roads, etc and of course then taking you on the scenic route. * Buzzing type rattles from the dash * Door intermittently deciding not to unlock * and now this banging noise combined with a second turbo replacement.
There's probably more I can't remember.
Its a lovely car when it is working...

I do like the look of them but you've put me off even more now! Plus they're ten-a-penny around here as Solihull is not far. Hope you get it all sorted though....

Likely scheme cars but definantly know the Evoque ain't built in Solihull. Won't say why but as prestige as the Land Rover is I have concerns on build quality of these vehicles. To have yet another turbo I would be concerned. Hope you get it sorted.

Yes I knew they were not built at Solihull but about half the employees there seem to have them on the company scheme!

Finally spoke to the service assistant yesterday and it is caused by a faulty actuator - that's all the detail I received so presumably it is electronically operated and the noise was the wastegate opening and closing.
That's the second actuator issue resulting in a turbo replacement in 2 1/2 years/22,000 miles. It could be a coincidence but I'm wondering whether there is an underlying issue causing them to fail - no idea what or how.
Listers have been an absolute joke, too. I rang them Monday, twice on Tuesday, Wednesday and twice on Thursday each time being told someone will call me back before I eventually received a call back on the status of the car. I've been provided a Jaguar XE as a courtesy car that has developed faults and with biscuits, crumbs and drinks bottles on the back seat when I collected it.
