Hi all,

As this year comes to a close it's time to reflect on my first year of this years coop's ownership and plan for next years shenanigans.

It hasn't been the smoothest year but I'm not naïve in realising that a 21 year old car isn't going to be without it's issues, current and ongoing but I'm fortunate enough to have the help of the forum and PowerItalia and also be able to have this as my weekend car even on my modest salary and this was never bought to be a garage queen (you actually need a garage for that smile

It was bought as an adventure car, to take my son and me around the county exploring old abandoned WW1/WW2 sites and locations and having great drives to those places but if this was a school exam, the car would probably score 7 out of 10 (could do better) It was off the road for quite a bit of it, but that's all been covered in my other posts.

But I'm very pleased where it's got to now, from January to now it's been getting improved slowly and with the help and thanks of Joe, Nigel, Flea and PowerItalia fault finding, the car is almost where I want it to be.

So January plans are:-

PowerItalia for Cambelt change and Rog mentioned about the exhaust gasket letting out some of the gasses and robbing me of a bit of power so hopefully get that sorted at the same time plus relocating the SIP higher up away from puddles smile

Hopefully go to some shows next year Covid permitting and lots more adventures with the confidence to go a bit further afield and take each day as it comes with usual maintenance/pampering. Here is a recent picture of us parked up about to explore after a great drive. driving

What are your next years plans?

Austin

My plans are to drop the rear subframe and refurbish it, new poly bushes and any rust repair e.t.c. Also wish to get hold of a better fitting exhaust system and fit the Abacus Alarms Meta alarm upgrade too.

What, gently, quietly, and with due attention to the rules of the road so the police don't notice you? tongue

2022 should be a big year for my Coupé, but then I have said that every year for the past 5 years... chinny

Early Jan
Inner sills and boot floor welding

Jan - May
2.4 ported and polished head
Ported and matched inlet and exhaust manifolds
Aquamist water meth system (multi-port) fitted
Fleamapped
Battery in the boot mod

June
8 point roll cage
Sabelt seats
TRS road legal harnesses
Momo steering wheel
New gearknob (probably sound ridiculous in this list, but it is a special one laugh )
Roll cage and interior painted
Interior and sound deadening re-fitted

Drive it at last! rofl

F****** b****** thing...

That sounds like a seriously good year coming up for you should be great once that's all done smile I'm assuming the gearknob isn't a skull with light up red eyes on it laugh

I will actually have to do some work this year. Both cars need cam belt changes.
Before I start I need a garage though. Planning is in place and the builder booked for February.
I guess March time before I can go for a blast.

Assuming there are no more setbacks, it should be amazing. I've only had the car for 5 months in the last two years and couldn't enjoy it in those months. It was off the road for nearly two years before that! I can't wait to get stuck into sorting the interior most of all!

We want to go to a property near Galliac in France, in September, to celebrate visiting there in 2002, with our first coupe.
The 2002 photo sits on my desk

The car might make it.
I have my doubts about the big useless knob behind the steering wheel.

Great Idea for a post aust-powers!

The very same sort of thing has been on my mind. Brexit, and then Covid 19 were body blows to having adventures with my Coop.

Realistically, she has some minor issues to address re turbo actuator. And I think its new fuel pump time. But after that, when spring comes back around - I too have some historic sites I've always wanted to go to, and some roads that I keep promising myself to drive.

After the last few years- 2022 is the year to do it.

Less planning maybe- and more just grabbing the keys and going!

Hoping to here everyones else plans

Regards

MM
