It's only just over an hour from where we're staying in Aosta to the Sparco showroom so I think we'll bypass the hotel (as it'll be too early to check in anyway) and go straight there in time for un caffè and meet up with folk before lunch around 1230 I've not bothered with the Italian toll-ticket, I've got a co-driver to do all that for me but I have my (electronic) Swiss vignette.

As an aside we're missing out Francs apart from a couple of nights in Colmar as they're very restrictive. Cars registered before Jan 1997 are not eligible for an emissions sticker being too old and are subject to Stop n Scrap by the gendarmerie I am taking my 96 Coupe through France. Are you serious about the Stop & Scrap bit? Michael, have a read of this, from the RACIf you stay away from the zones indicated it appears you'll be ok - you too Alan...

Are you serious about the Stop & Scrap bit? Hi Slicer - yup only kidding about the SnS But like me you'll be unable to get a French emissions permit as your coupe is too old. It's easy to avoid the fixed city locations but it's the emergency regional emissions zones which may cause an issue. Some of these were on our route and we decided we didn't want to take the risk so decided to dodge France Accordingly to the RAC these zones are fluid and can change quite quickly so couldn't be bothered trying to decipher regional updates every time we set off.

Its very confusing. A 97 car is ok but not a 96. They are both built to the same spec. Its just stupid!
I am also planning a 1 day trip into Paris to see the Tower and the Roundabout, both in the 8th district. I contacted the Mayor's office looking for a dispensation and got a reply back saying I would be grand if I did not drive around Paris between 8am to 8pm.
So feck it, that what I am going to wave at the Gendarmerie. Park at a station outside Paris and take the train in?

On the subject of permits, I've invested in: Tolltickets box to cover France & Italy 1-year vignette for my few hours in Switzerland Crit-Air sticker for France (still in the post after 3-weeks) Hopefully I'll be zooming through the toll gates with the Tolltickets box, assuming a good wifi/radio connection to the controller. I've been using the "Liber-t tag" in France for some years. Always very good in that you don't have to stop. As for huge queues, we've only seen them near Grenoble and right down in the south of France near the coast, and yes having the tag resulted in hardly any delay, compared to the mile plus for those waiting for booths. We have though, twice, had people in the TAG lane without a tag We plan to collect the Swiss pass when we stop over near Pontarlier - Doubs area for a few days before Turin. Our Crit-air arrived in just over a week, so at three weeks I would consider responding to the e-mail they send you on application.

Luca is investigating possible restaurant venues for Friday dinner, apart from the Borgaro Torinese where we'll all be dining on Saturday.
It'll be most advisable to book in advance particularly on a Friday so if anyone is interested in being with a group - already 20-something strong - of coopsters on the Friday evening put your name down here.
Short notice but your names need to be in by tomorrow (Friday) evening. 1. Edinburgh+2 2. Rosso+1 3. Slicer +1 4. Rob40 + 1

Luca has worked some magic and located a restaurant about 10 minutes (on foot) from the hotel that can accommodate us all, booked in advance. This can only be done by offering a fixed menu though, details of which will emerge shortly. It's likely there will a limited choice, based on fish, meat or pizza, with dietary requirements factored in.
Our contact in NL who is coordinating with Luca will draw up a registration form upon which confirmation of attendance, names/contact details (mainly to avoid no-shows) and menu choices can be entered.
Latest numbers attending are 55, composed as follows:
UK - 22 NL -18 AT - 2 DE - 11 F - 2

Aaand the good news is: thanks to Joe's excellent work, my coupe now has a new MOT (requiring refurbished headlights, new battery, new cat, and the country's last 16v brake light switch), a new cambelt and associated bits, and is once again off SORN and is taxed. Which would have been so much easier if the DVLA website had allowed me to do things online...
So tomorrow, I fly to the UK to drive it to Germany on Saturday. Whee!
(I'm driving a lot this summer: a flying holiday in Sapöens, France, was around 1200km each way, plus the same going between various flying sites. Then 1500km this weekend, 3,000km for the Turin trip, another 3,000km for a flying holiday in Slovenia in July, and I suppose the coupe has to come back to the UK by September...)

Evening,
i would like to know if the polos and t-shirts are tight-fit or not. Thanks. I would say they are not tight-fit, the medium I ordered is fairly generous in my opinion...
