Nice one That angle makes it look a lot closer than it was as I had a few car lengths by the end

Call me a bit extreme here, but what pleasure is there is some poor bastard's misfortune? Enjoy the fcat that he had the balls to come out in the first place knowing that some tuned up relatively cheap car would probably be quicker. At least he went for it, switching the box into launch mode rather than just cruising up the strip

That's as may be John, and I adopt a fairly calm attitude every time I break the race car, but I still don't get where people find pleasure in other people's misfortune. And there seems to be a bit of that creeping in on here

I can understand (sympathise, but not empathise, unfortunately) that from the point of view of someone who races I must appear callous in my post, and it must look to you as though I am revelling in someone else's misfortune. I do not race however, and so when I watch Formula 1 or Le Mans racing, it is not from the point of view of a competitor, but of a spectator. It is with a similar mentality that I hope to see someone spin off into the gravel - it is the excitement and thrill that makes you realise all the dangers of racing, which is what makes it an exciting sport to watch. Doesn't mean I hope to see people smash into walls and get killed, but it is a dangerous sport and people take that risk, indeed get given big respect for it. Let me make this clear - I wish no ill at all on the guy that owns the Ferrari, and I'm very sorry that in your opinion I represent a faction that is slowly taking over the forum and spreading an ill wind - to me it was just part of the day. Surely when someone takes their car up the strip, they know the dangers that the strain of this puts on their engine? I applaud the driver for switching off all his electronic restraints and flooring his supercar against other budget-built cars in the spirit of the day. For sure, if he had screamed up the track and walked it, I would have doffed my cap to the chap and my respect for he and car would have been deep. However, he ploughed it through the redline and dropped his gearbox on the track when others risked their much less exotic but no less loved cars and managed to reach a finish line which was just a quarter of a mile up the way. Sorry, but man spend that much on a car and rag it like that - man take responsibility for garage bills when he breaks it, no? That's entertainment!!!
