Has anyone developed an uprated polly bushed top mount ( the black metal link rod at the top left of the engine as you look at it from the front)? I seem to have quite a bit of play in mine now so its going to need replacing, just wondered if there is a good upgraded version of this yet ?

Is Barbz version the same as Nigels/Icebegs plug in rubber jobbie or is it a propper polly bush replacement ?

I remember the guide Nigel posted up ages ago but I seem to remember him saying it still knocked under hard acceleration, I want to stay away from that if I can.

Mine doesn't knock at all if that helps.

I know Barbz was developing an alternative to the other engine mount that has a lot of flex (I'm on about my 3rd) - think he might have one fitted to his car for testing.

Thanks John, I'll give him a call and see where he's at with the testing, maybe see if he want another guinea pig ?

Your on your third !!! Well I guess your engine has much more torque acting on that top bush than your average uprated coop. How long are they lasting ?

I know its a pig of a job to replace the standard bush, infact isnt it a whole engine mount replacement

I have both uprated mounts from Barbz. On is a machined piece of aluminium that is inserted inside the rubber bush on the top mount. The other is a uprated polyurethane bush with machined metal inside this is the lower mount on the same side. This is to stop the engine hitting the drive shafts or hitting the subframe can't remember exactly. Both quality are outstanding and should last longer than the car

I've made the top mount out of S/Steel it has stopped the knocking noises I uesd to get. OE design is poor and should of beeen a poly bush rather than rubber.

the rubber in the tie bar has dissintergrated on the end next to the top strut, is an uprated one available? only i had an idea , if i could buy a lump of polyerthene , and get some one to lathe it to size, and not just for that mount , lower arms etc , wonder if its possible and cheaper?? G.
