Just got a seriouse talking too by the local plod for using my phone, so I bought a Parrot handsfree kit in halfords on the way home.
Looks pretty straitforward to install but my only concern the mute lead.
I have the std clarion head unit and the manual doesnt say anything about connectors .
Anyone know if this head unit has a mute input?

Ta very muchness.
G

Which clarion? There were two standard in the coupe. And what parrot model did you get?

The Parrot kits actually have their own mute boxes so connecting the separate mute lead doesn't matter.

Indeed some do. They plug into the ISO lead for the stereo and cut the speaker power IIRC. Very good units.

Head unit is a Clarion arx7370r, and the parrot is the ck3000 evolution.
I will need to take a switched live from the ciggie lighter, but I was just wondering about the mute input to the head unit.
My Friend has one of these and they are superb.

Good man. As I said just leave the yellow(mute) cable, but make sure you tape the end of it up with insulating tape so it doesn't earth out.

Use the ISO connectors for the speakers and power and as you say run a separate ignition feed. Job done.

I've got a Parrot 3100 and the Clarion Head Unit. Yes it does mute but I had it installed professionally as part of a package deal with an AutoWatch Cat 1 Alarm. smile

gareth-m,i work at halfords, why dont you get the store to fit the parrot kit? its free of charge! and if theres any problems youve the protection of it being sorted.
also you may need an sot lead, (sounds on top) there about £20 you might not need it tho.

You won't need the SOT lead for the coop as it's ISO. wink

Yes, I was offered free fitting but when I looked through the door behined the counter there was a guy ripping out carpets of a bmw while he installed some type of ice. He had ripped the carpet and was laughing, holding up a torn piece . I turned the free fitting down.

Ah yes, that's the halfords I know. I remember some spotty oik cutting part of the metal of my Golf MK2 off with an angle grinder, to fit an exhaust crazy When my Old man saw it, he made me drive down there with him and the man behind the desk got quite an ear bashing! My dad still thinks he's in the Para's crazy
Got a new bumper and respray out of it tho laugh

Coopless!

I'll argue against that. tongue

Bluetooth is the way forward. Each time you change your phone you generally need to change your cradle = more money.

The only downside to bluetooth handsfree kits is they don't charge your phone and they rely on your phone's aerial. But get an in-car charger and you're laughing, most phone aerials are fine on their own anyway.
