Christ, that's actually nice. I may have to change my opinion of Lagunas, ours has been a complete shoddily built pain in the backside, but I could live with it if it looked like that!

Can anybody explain why modern engines are so rubbish ?
I don't know how old the 20VT engine is, but this Laguna
has a
"168bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit".
So it is a 2 litre turbo modern engine, putting out nearly
60 BHP less. Any ideas ?

Cheers

Yeah, it probably does 360 miles to the gallon and plants trees to save the planet at the same time, while curing world hunger laugh

Or on the other hand... 'we looked at the longevity and expected warranty claims with a larger turbo and decided that a less-stressed engine with a smaller turbo would give a driving experience more suited to today's roads'? laugh

It's not just 'modern' engines, it all depends how the thing is tuned (by that I mean originally tuned), I mean take a look at the old 2.5 V6 vectra that puts out around the same bhp as a Fiesta ST! ... yawn!

Sooooooo many people I speak to wrongly assume that bigger CC = faster/more powerful, it's a little frustrating when they think their 2.5TD is quite obviously going to be more powerful than my little 2.0T!
