I'm just woundering if there would be any advantage in runing 1.4 bar on my GTir confused

I am curently runing 1.3 dropping to 1.1 at the redline,
and the car feels very quick and torqey wink

Mods so far are,

GTir
Full BF exhaust,100cell cat
PA FMIC,SIP
Walbro+ live Feed
Gtech2 HF

AFR is low 11's through rev range

Ben

I'd stick to 1.3 bar, You probably could run 1.4 bar but the difference will be less than 10BHP probably.

Coopless!

My understanding is that with the Gti-R all you'll really do is make more heat which might even see you with less power.

You could get it RR'd and see though...

1.4 bar will produce extra torque but you will produce more heat so wont get more power at redline, i.e. bhp.

Just thinking i would like it runing about 11.5/6AFR as its curruntly runing 11.1/2AFR which is a little rich crazy

Well Perfect Touch optimised my GTiR at 1.35bar when they set up my Unichip for maximum power. They seemed to feel that this was the realistic safe maximum for my set up, and I'm very happy with the results cool .

It really depends on how the car is mapped (you could run less advance and more boost for example or vice versa)- but 1.3 bar is the limit on that turbo IMO. You'll get very little from going higher. You really want to raise the boost until you start to get a diminishing increase in bhp and then back it off a bit. There's little point in ragging the nuts out of the car for an extra 5-10 bhp.

Its not all about bhp tho suba. Its about the extra torque aswell.

Well that's pretty much what Rob at PT did with mine Si wink . I asked for 1.3 bar, but he felt that 1.35 was quite safe on my set up, and the extra 0.05 bar was worth it for the extra driveability cool . I have to say that my car flies on the high boost setting, especially in this lovely cold weather evil !

It's the same high boost setting that I have on my GT28R....

Ross - yes you can get more torque by slapping some overboost / midrange but I dont feel like this makes the car more driveable and you're going to have more heat to deal with etc.

Well been out this morning and increased the boost wink

So the car is boosting 1.35 midrange and droping 1.1 by 7k smile
Also the AFR has improved to hold 11.4/5 mid dropping 11.1/0 at 7k tongue

The car does'nt feel any quicker but it feels there is a liitle bit more torqe midrange love

Something for Ross wink Checked the spool in fifth and can get 1.35 just under/touching 3k wink

Getting boost is different from the car getting on torque.

Thats right thinking of that rolleyes

Though coming onto boost at 3k, the torque doesnt really kick in hard till 3500/600k wink

You would see from a RR graph the torque shooting up, and thats when the turbo is on song!! laugh
