I`d like to have around 280hp when I save enough money for mods, so I`ve contacted my local Italian car tuning shop and they`ve recomended the following:
-k&n air filter or simmilar //// they`ve told me it requires maintaining, is it difficult to detach and clean it?
-new injectors with capability of 440cc //// could you advise the average price?
-turbo from Lancia Integrale Evo1 with new internals + installation - 730$ ///any comments on this turbo?
-decat //// any disadvantages ? when I told that I`ve heard that decat can reduce turbine life, they laughed) and they are good proffesionals.
-custom ecu - 700$ for chip itself and 800$+ for programming it ////now this price seems crazy!

You wont need the injectors, they are capable to deliver upto 280 - 300bhp, depending on condition. Decat wont have that much of an affect on the 16v turbos, bit more sensitive on the 20vt turbos That price does seem a little high? Can they not just remap the ECU? Maintaining the Air filter is easy, spray an oil on, then wash it off

K&N clean is spray cleaner all over it, let it do its work for 20 minutes, wash it all through with tap water, ( inside to out ), let dry naturally, oil lightly until all cotton is red / impregnated with oil , but not wet .. cleaner and oil is £15 . last a fair few recharges of the filter the amount of dirt the cleaning solution gets out compared to water is astounding .. and old oil is removed, which traps fine dirt / dust etc should be held on with one big jubilee clip

thx for info! so k&n + decat definitely to be done
i don`t know, I told them that I have squadra chip, maybe they can`t remap it.. but 1500$ for custom one, omg! is it that necessary? will standrad fuel pump be enough?

Squadra chip wont really be up to it as it will be mapped for a standard car not one with mods. It maybe worth chucking a front mounted intercooler into the mix, so you get the best of the Moscow temps! Fuel pump will probably be on the limit, so could upgrade to a walbro which will do the job nicely

lancia turbo will be fine, you will have boost around 3000rpm and be going fully at 3500rpm. Top mounted intercooler It is either at the side or the front, never on the top, unless you have a subaru engine and haven't told us

On a 20vt you need a Good cat back (scorpion being my 1st choice ) gtec1 moded air box with a k&n or an apexi/ram air filter boost gage 255lph fuel pump and a prv for a bit more boost and you should hit 280bhp all so don't forget to get the fuelling checked on a RR. It is all so recommended to have a compression test to check how healthy you lump is (no point spending a load of dosh on moding only to give it to carlt later on )

I thought you'd be looking more at around 260 on a 20vt with those mods bernie.

Agree with that, a good exaust with better/no catalyst, Novitec/gtec-chip, airbox mod and a healthy engine should be enough.

On a 20vt it will put extra stress on the turbo seals, if your turbo is on the way out it will kill it a bit sooner rather than later. i put a de-cat on my coop and in 1000 miles I got my self a gtir due to this but there have been coop's running a de-cat with no problems what so ever
