it's got a gtec chip i believe, seems quite fast. I don't have any other mods. oh apart from drilled box.
what would be the next bhp gaining mods next?

A free flowing exhaust would be a good move! Also don't forget handling and braking mods, you will probably get a lot more enjoyment out of these than an extra 20bhp! Also budget for a new clutch if its quite old!

What boost does the car run?
What is your target and how much do you want to spend?
If you are using the car on track I would run 1.1 bar of boost and spend on brakes, suspension, strut + subframe braces, polybushes, and tyres before going for power. Your car will be more fun and will also be faster.

I'm not sure how far I want to go mate, I understand i need suspension upgrades, i've got the brakes covered at moment.
i have a gtec chip(came with it) and nothing else, not even a boost gauge. I'd be happy running a good deal of boost.
I was thinking about getting myself a full exhaust and perhaps a manifold then waiting for a good deal on a good turbo.
I've just bought a house so i'm slightly limited at moment. Depending on the level of fun i have at knockhill a week on saturday will likely determine just how far i'm going to go.
I took my first coop to track, it had novitec chip, it went pretty well. I had no complaints about the handling, especially is the events i go to are the baby races where they get the cones out for the lads. not a lot got passed me apart from empty cossies that would come out of nowhere, noone was taking me on the bends although I smoothed the sidewalls of two brand new michelins.
also, what's the best road tyres, i find michelin a bit crap. (i know slicks are best but i'm not that into it yet)

Toyo T1R's and Goodyear Eagle F1's are popular choices, some people also use Falkens!

T1R's are very cheap from camskill anyway, not sure what the price of Falkens is. Personally I would go for the T1R's for quality and cost. IMO of course

I'd recommend a set of Toyo R888s m8. Road legal and found them very good at KH.
Agree with John to strip the interior and then I'd do suspension, get a strut brace etc.

Go for a set of R888's or Hancook RS2 tyres - they have stiffer sidewalls for the track stuff. The Hancooks are ok on the road as they have water channels, though they are a track tyre.
Dont go over 1.1 bar of boost on your setup on track unless you dont mind nukeing an engine.
There is nothing wrong with the standard manifold until you are knocking on the door of 500bhp.
For more power you are going to need to get a FMIC before bolting on a big turbo and getting the car mapped. A full exhaust on the standard turbo may well result in the seals going, so I would uprate the cooling, turbo, and exhaust all in one go, and then get the car mapped with a boost increase (how much depends on the turbo, but IMO dont go over 1.4 bar max on the standard internals and 1.2 bar redline - again less boost if you are running the car on a track - 1.1 or 1.2 bar)

i'll be using it on the road, i've got a van for work, this is just a wee toy.
I'll need to see if i get the bug at knockhill because it's a scarey thought getting rid of all that lovely black leather.
i'll look into those tyres, again, thanks for the suggestions.
as far as getting exhaust, turbo and fmic and remap, would we be talking about 2 grand? what's that gonna get me? 300bhp?
btw what's the ideal tyre pressure on the track, what did you have at knockhill fergus?

If you run the Hancook's or R888's then they have a stiffersidewall so you run normal road pressures, otherwise a few psi more to stiffen up the tyre a bit.
Pro Alloy FMIC = £400 - fitting yourself Exhaust = £300 Turbo = £600-£1000 Fuel pump + Wiring mod = £80 Live Map = £500 Boost Gauge = £40 PRV = £25 (or electronic boost controller = £200)
That will get you 300bhp on a GTIR turbo at 1.3 bar, but I would also budget for a new clutch.

You the old sweep from EK btw? No point with a custom map if running a gtir. Gtec will be more or less spot on If your on a budget, no need for FMIC either as long as you keep boost sensible.

You the old sweep from EK btw? No point with a custom map if running a gtir. Gtec will be more or less spot on If your on a budget, no need for FMIC either as long as you keep boost sensible. Why not a custom map if you have a GTiR? Highwayman did one at PT and got 320 hp from his setup. I now his setup includes a lot more than just a GTiR turbo upgrade, but why not a remap? It is the most sensible thing to do if you have the cash and wants the engine to run as efficient as possible. Gtec is not a spot on solution as you say. Some people here got 10.5 AFR with Gtec, other got 12.5 AFR. Pretty big difference if you ask me. Check the car at a RR and after that decide if you need a custom map or not. If you don´t have the cash, don´t tune your engine. Buy track tyres and better brake pads. After that just enjoy the ride
