i weighed in 5 old wheels the other day, and a dented evo bonnet (alloy also)
got £30.20
hardly worth it really, but better than sitting in the garage for eternity

If you put glass on to make coffee table the glass would rest on the spokes not the rim I think

A mate did this with M3 wheels, got a similar size for the lower rim, had the hum painted black and had his M3 wheels on the top - looked quite good except for a crappy wheel design!

I have one of michael schumachers old F1 wheels sat in my living room (Benneton 91 season) with glass on as a coffee table, always think wheels make a nice blokey change from something you pick up on a mundane trip to Ikea.
I agree though, you would have to work out how to raise the lip or something as the spokes mean it would not sit flat. Perhaps a base with four poles coming up that the table top could rest on.

Why would it not lay flat? Either the spokes are below the rim, in which case, no problem, or there is a highest point on each spoke. That highest point will be equidistant from the centre and equally distributed in a circle. The only problem that you have would be if the high point is too close to the centre so that putting things on one side of the table causes it to tip; so three or four small rubber/plastic supports on the wheel rim would be ideal. Sorted.
